Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Isn't any talk of Amazon @ Volpe a non-sarter with MIT already redeveloping the site? Sure Amazon could be a tenant of a mixed use build out if they were only looking for ~100k SF, but Amazon wants 500ksf by 2019, expandable to 8msf over ~33 buildings. That ain't happening on Volpe.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The bracing is removed incrementally as the substructure get's built. If you look closely in this photo by davec, towards the middle you can see the bottom bracing almost completely removed. Scroll forward from that post approximately 10 pages and you can see the progression of the below grade...

A Complete and Geographically Accurate Boston MBTA Subway Track Map

Saw this on Reddit, Awesome work! I then spent way too much of my work day with your MTA Map w/2nd Ave, google maps, and historic aerials looking at remnants of bygone rights of way & elevated rail.

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

It's going to be similar to the Millenium Tower. The podium floors go slow, then once the floors become 'typical' it will speed up.

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

There were some very minor angled CIP columns on the Milenium tower on one of the lower floors. If you like those angles, check out some of the recent photos of 53W53 in NYC.

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

Re: Amtrak / Regional Rail Discussion Thread Feasible, yes. You could physically do it, and without any reversing maneuver. You just go from where the Framingham/Worcester line terminates at Worcester union station, and keep following the existing freight/lake shore limited line out along RT 9...

One Greenway (Parcel 24) | 0 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

I think we're overestimating the difference between wood framed structures & other types of construction. We've been building single family homes next to highways (or vice versa) for decades, and while not ideal, we've made it work. For what it's worth, when you look at cast-in-place concrete...

    Boston Street Car in NYC

I was just perusing around google maps, as I do from time to time, and happened to notice something I thought the ab community would find interesting. I noticed this familiar looking roof top sitting on what appeared to be tracks. The street view is an older image that shows 3 street cars...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

In my opinion, it all looks fine. Nothing game changing here. Certainly better than what we have. I like the seats. I feel like it would all look better if the poles were chrome instead of yellow. It just looks weird with the orange. The one thing that I'm really not a fan of at first...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link The fare gates are capable of tracking alightings without any kind of exit fare. Even the mechanical turnstiles are capable of tracking the entrances & exits. The only real difficulty in tracking exits is the green line, buses, commuter rail, etc where you're not...

Commonwealth Pier Revitalization (née Seaport WTC)| 200 Seaport Boulevard | Seaport

Re: Seaport World Trade Center To be Redeveloped? I'd prefer that this building remains as is, and perhaps be modified/repurposed/repositioned vs. developed into something that just continues the plateau from the fan pier. I feel like this building retains some of the history of the area...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

FWIW: R142 & R142A are half black/half maroon. The R143 , R160 & R179 are the full black faced ones And the R211 looks like it will have a blue face!

    National Politics Thread

These people aren't protesters. They are opportunists who use the political climate to justify their destruction. You don't show up in all black, carrying hammers, with your face covered if you are looking to reasonably change something.

I'll take a hard pass on that. There is no good that could come from having congress set the zoning regulations for every municipality across the country. Only pain.

    Amazon in Boston Discussion

Oh yea, I forgot about this. I used to work in One P.O. If I remember correctly they occupied the first 17 floors? So excluding the 1st floor, that would be 16 floors at ~20,000SF/Floor. That would give them plenty of space.

    Amazon in Boston Discussion

I have to imagine that 125 High St still has a lot of open space after pwc moved to the seaport. I think they had ~15 or so floors. Not sure if it was the main tower or the Oliver Street tower, but they each look like they have a floor plate of at least 20,000 SF, so that would mean roughly...
