    Boston 2024

To this point, the USPS is a federal agency, so pressure could only really come from the federal government, which a 2024 bid could put the pressure on. If not for an Olympic bid, shouldn't the federal government have an interest in seeing SSX happen anyways? From my understanding, SSX is a key...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Agreed, it feels like the best option both in the terms of feasibility & effectiveness. I really don't believe a canal system would do much in a sandy-like storm surge. I came across the image below, which illustrates what davem mentioned. It seems like an attractive option that would open up...

...and had parking for their two cars. This town's going down the tubes I tell ya! Thanks Obama!

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I read somewhere the intent is, that if they were to win future orders, even if they had to build in that state, MA would serve as the factory that would supply the majority of the parts. Who know's what will actually transpire.

    Goodwin Procter HQ @ Fan Pier | 90 - 110 Northern Ave - Parcel I | Seaport

Re: Goodwin Procter HQ (Parcel I) @ Fan Pier | 90 - 110 Northern Ave | Seaport My guess, is that the extra concrete in that location was needed for reinforcement for the crane supports. Think about the way forces move, if the crane is performing a pick and the weight is acting to pull the crane...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

This is just a guess, but being that the new Red/Orange cars would require a new contract, I'd imagine that state procurement regulations would prohibit the MBTA from reaching out to a single vendor. . As part of their due diligence for John Q. Tax payer, they are required to competitively bid...

    Boston in the 1960's

We could have definitely done much better without urban renewal, as mentioned above, we could have had great density without the height, retained more of the history in Boston, and infilled/replaced buildings where it makes sense. I think just as bad of an idea was the central artery & the...

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

Re: The Boston Arch (Aquarium parking garage) That could work, but I think something like that right in the middle would detract from the openness that the separation is supposed to create. I think if the roof line of the shorter tower just had a steeper pitch, it would look a lot better.

Re: The Boston Arch (Aquarium parking garage) I think the shorter tower needs something reaching skyward to make it seem less squat & fat

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Psssh, economic development shmeconomic development. I wanna be like China with 100 of the worlds tallest buildings that are all 75% vacant. Compensating much? But for real tho, yep +1,000

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I'm no concrete expert either, but I know test are typically carried out by either doing a slump test on site, or by making concrete cylinders from each batch(each truck?) letting them cure for the full 28 days, then performing a a compression test. Here's my best guess as to what they are for...

THe 3rd floor has some separation, but hte 4th floor is the first that is truly separated from the Burnham building. Take a look at this page from the NPC file from the BRA website.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

First, I would like to say that I know a bit about construction scheduling but next to nothing about tower construction and the CIP proces. That said, in order to be visible from the river, it would have to grow at least 8 stories, and as many as 11 stories. There's a little more than 10 weeks...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

My best guess, comparing it to 75 Fed, we'd see this poke up somewhere between floor 12-15. They're getting close to being done with the podium portion, I imagine floors will go up pretty quickly when they're framing out & pouring just the tower floor plates.

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I think we'll see one eventually, and I can't wait for that day. For now, I'd settle for a new tallest, just something to break the ceiling open. Give me something coming in just north of 800' and I think that would...

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I know that Belkin won the rights by default because he was the only one that responded to the RFP. So, I've been trying to see what (if any) legal rights Belkin has to develop the site, and I think I found my answer...
