    General Boston Discussion

Wasn't sure where this should go, so this thread seems perfect: Bostonography just posted an updated user-submitted neighborhood map of Boston and its urban neighbors. I love this approach because it shows where some boundaries are definite while others are hazy. It's very interesting how (as...

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

Cambridge approves rezoning for Central Square business district (Cambridge Day): [emphasis added] Additionally, small businesses (literally, <1500 sq ft) won't count towards FAR to encourage diverse uses, bank retail frontage will be limited, and nightlife will be less limited. Parking can...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Judging from curbed's map of high-end rentals in Boston/Cambridge (including Kensington etc. but not MT itself), $3500 sounds about right.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Discussion on r/Boston: If you could get the MBTA to create a new bus route (or routes), what route would you propose?

Nice writeup in CityLab about the Everett bus lane, with an eye to future bus lanes in the region

McMansion Hell & Other Real Estate Madness

Just to point out how wrong you are: your originally typed double space (visible in the comment draft when I quote you) gets corrected to a single space when the comment posts. I used to do it as well. Don't do it.

The Eddy | 6 New Street | East Boston

It's also a fat one. I'm always amazed this is residential because of how wide it is. There can't be much sunlight or many real bedrooms per unit (given the lack of windows) due to the surface area to volume ratio.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

http://news.mit.edu/2017/agreement-redevelop-volpe-center-kendall-square-0118 KC2 puts Volpe in a 250'-300' zone. How likely is MIT going to push against that? Also, as mentioned previously, MIT is in it for the long haul - MITIMCo's explicit goal is long-term growth. This could be, in large...

    Biking in Boston

Not everyone loves them, but a definite benefit of two-way bike lanes is being able to treat (/plow/sweep) them with "standard" vehicles. Hope this continues!

    Future Skylines/Developments of the US

That location is not happening - voters rejected the arena on those dilapidated piers. The new Warriors arena is instead going down in the Mission Bay neighborhood (sort of SF's Seaport). http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Judge-says-city-acted-properly-in-OKing-new-8385295.php

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

Cambridge City Council is scheduled to ask about it (hopefully including the "lol") - it wasn't removed from the agenda as the new city manager comes in. http://www.cambridgeday.com/2016/11/23/list-of-council-business-awaiting-action-remains-intact-for-new-city-manager/...

    Biking in Boston

Seriously. I love (LOVE) that we're getting dedicated bike facilities on a major downtown street. But this looks like it's asking for more right hook injuries. Intersections are the most dangerous parts of multimodal street interactions. All the recent deaths of people on bicycles have been at...

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

I have a lot of (completely unfounded) hope that the triangle parcel on Main across from Tech Square will end up as a big residential building. It could be something like their East Campus developments: some grad student, some workforce, and some market rate housing. In the 2013 Town Gown...

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

Unfortunately this makes sense. Is there any documentation of previous proposals/iterations for this lot? This development probably won't help at all - if it becomes furnished executive rentals as advertised, it's essentially just an expansive hotel for visiting Biogen/GSK board members.

    Biking in Boston

Protected bike lanes have been going up Mass Ave this week (currently around Newbury). Unfortunately, the official designs quietly had flex posts dropped and buffers narrowed without telling the community, resulting in scenes like this...
