Name these US Airports from above

You would be correct on this one! This is my hometown airport. Bozeman has a population just under 15% that of the Portland metro area yet last year total passengers served just exceeded PWM at 2.26 million. For a city of it's size it probably has the best air service in the country if you...

Name this US city and related urban trivia!

That's a glowing description for Casper lol. It's obvious you have never spent much time in Wyoming.

By all means if you feel that strong about Payson Smith hall chain yourself to the fence. However there really is nothing architecturally significant about the building to save. It's pretty plain jane and could actually use a good makeover. BTW Payson Smith was a Tufts graduate.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

There was no need to invest in their former home office on outer Congress because they had just built a beautiful third building in Portland (HO3). I worked out of HO3 but traveled to the Worcester location to train new employees. The Worcester location was truly subpar and needed to be...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

In the 80's Unum had one site in downtown Portland on Congress. The merger (no one wanted to think of it as a buyout but it was) did not come until the early 2000's and some of the operations were transferred to one of many locations including Chattanooga, Worcester, New York, South Carolina...

    Hobson's Landing | Aloft Hotel | 383 Commercial Street | Portland

That observation deck blocking the view from the living room is a no-go for me. Especially at that price.

Thank God for the wood they used on the interior otherwise this entire project would appear incredibly cold which the exterior is.

I'll be interested in seeing the floorplans for the hotel. There are certainly some architectural challenges posed by this building that you wouldn't expect seeing it from outside.

Aaaahhhh ..... first world problems .... I've spent 45 years in the design industry. So many of the remarks on this thread about good design costing more ring hollow.

Of course we need affordable housing. Yet it need not be ugly.

Aesthetics IS part of the user experience. They are inseparable. Aesthetically pleasing architecture = positive user experience.

The issue with building residential with attached commercial (where you are expecting the renters to work) is that it isolates them from the rest of the community and they fail at integration into society. It's no better than the Jewish ghettos of Europe and elsewhere.

Just another turd of a building that wastes a prime location. It's SO Portland.
