    Crazy Transit Pitches

Why would the B/C terminate at Park in this scenario? At the very least you'd want another line going north (since the D/E are just one line now) to serve the two-pronged GLX. Also, I don't see how adding another color to the map, and breaking the right now hard-and-fast rule that lines do not...

    Green Line Type 9 Procurement

After a discussion on Twitter regarding this I now suspect the white circled button is a demand button, which would imply that is indeed a passenger door...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos Looks like the MBTA is launching commuter boat service on the weekends. I'm kind of surprised that the boat gets weekend service when the Greenbush Line still doesn't, but this does appear to be a seasonal thing.

93 Mass Ave (Other Side Cafe) | 93-97 Massachusetts Ave | Back Bay

As I recall there was some sort of LGBT community center in the upper floors of that building- my old roommate would go there a lot before we were roommates, and I would often meet her in front of the building and then head off to wherever it was we were planning on going that day.

    MBTA Map Contest Finalists

I know I was quite sad to see the perfect diamond in the center of the map disappear- it had reminded me of the old Cambridge Seven spider map's square.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Looking at the shorter Huntington subway from Copley-> Brookline Village on its own, it seems iffy at best- you lose Longwood and Fenway, which are busy stations, Newton loses a one-seat ride to Fenway Park, the outer E line loses service, and the D line is probably slower downtown when routed...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

As I recall One Franklin would have used the facade on Franklin St. that was recently demolished for this project, but would have kept only the facade of the Burnham Building (thus why the building was completely gutted).

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 I wonder if this has something to do with the deals the MBTA made to get the land for the new station? The new developer would seem to have the most to gain from closing the station at the beginning of reconstruction.

    MA Casino Developments

I think people are getting a little overexcited here about potential transit improvements- if the casino has T access, people will go to it by T. But if it doesn't, people will still go to it. A bus shuttle will almost certainly be sufficient for that... I could maybe see a ferryboat, but it...

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

Re: Gov't Center Rebuild I vaguely recall seeing a claim somewhere that the D will turn at Gov't Center so it can continue to use the same berth at Park Street westbound... not sure about the B, but there doesn't seem to be a barrier to turning it at Park.

Future of Boston Metro - Urbanism, Econ, Public Policy

This is the big problem here- nominally you might be able to have your employees work "from anywhere", but it turns out that if you want to hire the best workers, they often would rather live in the expensive locations. (This of course only holds for workers above a certain skill level who can...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Plenty of people travel from the Braintree branch to Cambridge, though- I would think this would be a significant reduction in convenience for them, at little operational gain, even in F-Line's scenario where we build duplicate stations.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

The 1-77 connection could make sense- I often go between Symphony and Porter myself- but I do wonder if it would make sense from a time perspective... Google gives 30 min by subway, 40 min by bus excluding transfer time. (Actually it gives 27 min., but seems to rely on the 77 bus moving back in...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Clearly the best way to get the Green Line to Auburndale is to extend the B line up Commonwealth Avenue. On a good day, it might take less than two hours to get to Park Street!

    Crazy Transit Pitches

My understanding is that the issue isn't so much "building the Essex St. Subway is impossible", it's "building the Essex St. Subway is so disruptive and expensive it should be taken off the table if there are other options". I can only imagine that even in that deep-bore scenario, supporting...

    B Line Improvements

When I lived in that neighborhood, I took the D most days, unless I really wasn't in the mood to walk due to weather or whatever, then I used the B (and left an extra half-hour early)...

    Next big highway project?

The question is, could enough people be convinced to take an improved train service that bridge traffic would be a little better for the people who don't? It doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing proposition, after all.

    Redesigned MBTA

I think Cleveland Circle has an issue, and the Heath St. loop. (As well as a desire on the part of the T to not run overly long trains in the street-running section) B and D don't have issues though, as far as I know.
