    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Sure, but we never get to build housing or even office space in its ideal location. We have a housing crisis and not a jobs crisis, and I think the priority should be keeping housing costs as low as possible. And respectfully, I think talk like "primary employment center" and "our best...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

There will be about 10,000 housing units without Amazon, 7,500 if Amazon picks Boston. Count me among those who hope they go elsewhere.

Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

Oooof, that's terrible. But wait: does that one panel of glass on the east end mean the awful dark paneling might actually be covered?

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

Re: Landmark Center Expansion | Fenway I like the design, too. Just wish we still had the housing....

Columbus Ave Student Housing | 10 Burke St | Northeastern University

I started at NU the same year and remember the atmosphere well. I actually lived a few streets past Columbus for a while but it was a quiet little street with no through traffic (Sussex). Despite the occasional gunshots at night, I actually miss living there. We had a great view from the roof...

Re: Seaport Parcels M1-M2 | Seaport Sq. | Seaport I preferred the earlier renders.

Re: Parcel P-12 | Chinatown People don't have a right to build whatever they want either. It's a representative democracy. Chill out.

    171 Tremont Street | Downtown

I think housing for the homeless (housing, not a shelter) would be a good start.

I think this approval is an interesting example of both the good and the bad when it comes to City bureaucracy. On the one hand: way too much open space. I agree, there should be more residential buildings. On the other hand: holding out approval for more pot-sweetening got them more...

One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion | Financial District

I don't like 1 POS for the most part - it's pretty terrible from most angles - but I have to say, I think it looks really good (and really interesting) from this one...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

I'm not surprised at all this was reduced - I'm sure the developer expected it - but it looks like we didn't loose too many residences, which are more important (in my opinion) than the hotel rooms. I would have preferred the original plan, too, but in all honesty I think this will look better...

Glass seems to be turning out really well.

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

Like I said, I wasn't sure you were arguing for an exclusively market-based approach, so I edited my comment preemptively. But plenty of people here do that - and do it in a very obnoxious, condescending way (such as "you don't believe in economics") - so I left it up. If you want to say that...

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

I don't think either of you are right, actually. It's not so much that I think 180 more units will make anything better; it's that they'll keep things from getting that much worse. Also, I believe in density, and this reduction is a blow against that. But the idea that the "economics" is going...

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

Love to see spoiled rich people screwing over everyone else by making it hard to build up the city's housing stock.

I see this every day and I've been wondering the same thing. I don't think much of this building in general, but geez, the black sections above the top floor are awful.

    Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

Pretty sad. The current building is actually better than this.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

https://boston.curbed.com/boston-development/2017/8/15/16148408/mit-volpe-center-dorms This is a great idea, but geez, what a weak way of getting it out there. "We really need housing, and here's our great idea... but it's just a suggestion. We won't make a fuss if you ignore us."

The Alcott (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End That very good but they're still only adding market rate housing and those projects are going to take years to complete. Boston's population is increasing rapidly and this isn't enough: adding more market rate when...
