    Well, that's depressing.

    BU Development Thread

I don't think it's going to extend beyond the Myles renovation, but my understanding is that BU is putting students who would have been in Myles in that new residential building on Comm Ave next to the Planned Parenthood clinic. Really wish they'd build StuVi III to help ease residential...

I dunno. Kind of expected this result, especially right on the Common. Whatever.

    45 Worthington Street | 6 (née 35) stories, 141 (née 385) units | Mission Hill

Just chipping in to co-sign the calls for a much better and more respectful design. I lived two blocks from here for 6 years and always enjoyed these streets.

Rio Grande (née Dudley Square Residential Tower) | Washington St. | Roxbury

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury But the supply is always in flux, and there's no way to accurately quantify that supply except by looking at the market and guessing. Problem is, the market is a poor indicator because builders are going to build the most expensive...

Rio Grande (née Dudley Square Residential Tower) | Washington St. | Roxbury

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury It is nice to have that potted history here, but all the same, it doesn't speak very much to the history and conditions of the area's current residents, which are very, very different. "Stuff changes" doesn't speak to the nature of...

Rio Grande (née Dudley Square Residential Tower) | Washington St. | Roxbury

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury Well, he capitalized "schvitz", and since this is English, not German, what do you expect? (Yiddish doesn't capitalize common nouns either.) And why are you offended that people were a little mean to W, but not the (ahistorical)...

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury Would help if he didn't capitalize it then, right?

Rio Grande (née Dudley Square Residential Tower) | Washington St. | Roxbury

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury Point by point: The term "double speak" (the colloquially accepted spelling is actually "doublespeak") doesn't appear in 1984. Perhaps you meant "doublethink," which in the novel is a type of "Newspeak." "Change happens" is a...

Stick made two renders with Copley. They look great, and it'll look even better when 40 Trinity pops up. To my eye, the first picture is downright elegant:

The Lucas | 136 Shawmut Ave | South End

That's too bad. Could they have done something uninhabited, just glass encased?

The Lucas | 136 Shawmut Ave | South End

I think this might have looked better with some graceful work on the roof (a glass simulacra of the original roof, maybe), but yeah, it looks..... odd.

Northeastern University - Institutional Master Plan

It's a city planning study. How do we know they have an agenda? In any case, it's an interesting twist and the paper should note it. Not trying to be a jerk, but do you have a source for that?
