Novartis Campus | 181-211 Mass Ave, 22 Windsor Street | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Re: Novartis Expansion Well, I would be inclined to predict she would deliver that based on past quality of her projects has been very good, if not phenomenal (in my opinion). Coupled with a firm with plenty of large scale, urban experience (CKS), I think her creative input will lead to a great...

Mostly this. Personally, it's quite difficult to pay attention to Boston planning while I'm halfway across the country studying other stuff. Especially when there is hardly anything being built or even proposed.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I mean, I guess pavilions are as good as actual buildings. Also, notice the only structures that have been put up on the Greenway so far, are city buildings. Or state buildings. Whatever. Joke? Yes.

Novartis Campus | 181-211 Mass Ave, 22 Windsor Street | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Re: Novartis Expansion Regardless of the planning of the space, which at this point, does not seem definite, I am quite pleased with the architects involved so far. Chan Krieger is a local favorite, and Maya Lin will surely deliver (although I don't believe she has done anything at this scale...

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Expansion | West End

According to that massing rendering, the building on the parking lot will be perfectly in scale with the neighbors. So please explain to me just how these people will lose their views. Views that as far as I can tell, include Storrow Drive, a bunch of ramps, and a T station.

Megabus of Hotels, Yotel, to open in NYC

Cool concept, I wonder why more US chains haven't done something like this? I wonder if Yotel has a parent company. If not, Mr. Marriott, I'm looking at you.

Harvard Law School - Northwest Corner complex | Cambridge

Re: Harvard Law School - Northwest Corner complex I'll stick with my original assessment, and what everyone seems to agree upon. Solid massing and materials, poor detailing and street-level interaction. I actually don't mind the fusion the of the glass box on top with the Romaneque arches down...

Vision for the South Boston Seaport

Well, not exactly a detailed rendering. It's more of a land-use map. But this link should work. New Seaport

    Harvard Stadium - Response Paper

Regarding the former capacity, there used to be a steel set of bleachers completing the bowl in the north endzone, where the Murr Center currently stands. These were an addition to the original bowl, and I believe they were dismantled because they were deemed unnecessary due to declining...

    Harvard Stadium - Response Paper

Just another paper I had to write for school. I used Harvard Stadium as my example for a building I had a strong emotional response to, so it's somewhat relevant to Boston architecture. Thought I'd just throw it up in the General section in case anyone wanted to read it.

    The Great Books Thread

The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton An interesting read less concerned with formal archi-speak and more of the emotional connection regular people have with the architecture around them. Why Architecture Matters by Paul Goldberger More of an academic investigation into the...

    New Ideas for the Site

Oh, oops! Guess I didn't see it in the original post. They actually used to be called "UrbanSTL," and I've used them as a reference here before, but they significantly redesigned their site to reflect their growing activism within the St. Louis development community.
