Just requested my free student copy of Vectorworks. I'm kind of excited about it. EDIT: I'm also probably going to need a textbook to figure it out.

Re: Harvard Law School - Northwest Corner complex I still like it well enough. Better than a lot of the shit going up recently. Although, that silly design flourish/aqueduct-wall thing I really don't like.

Woah, no idea that was a Moshe Safdie design! I saw a special on that on the show Build it Bigger on the Science Channel. Not exactly the most inspired architecture, but certainly a feat of engineering.

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf) I don't think the architecture is overwhelmingly sterile. I think the issue with the area is the park, not the towers. The towers can easily hold retail, etc., in the base. As has been said before, the immediate streetwall is the most important aspect...

I've got to say I agree with Lurker, the grittiness aspect is something I wouldn't particularly miss. Not to say affordable housing isn't necessary, it is, but it doesn't need to be a gritty commieblock. That's practically like putting people into zoos (prisons?) for our own urban viewing pleasure.

Why aren't the tunnel ramps covered at all? Even with just a graduated canopy-like thing? Would be cool to have a multi-layered park with some height. Some steps up to a lookout atop the ramp?

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf) I get it, towers in the park, but I really don't agree with all the hate thrown at these projects. I like how they interact with each other and, at least in Atlantic Wharf's case, the street.

Re: South Boston Seaport Totally agree with czsz, I've been holding out on this the whole time. Especially with Liberty Wharf bringing some human-scaled architecture into the mix.

Re: Suffolk Dorms / Modern Theatre I really don't understand the hate towards the addition. I like the angles and the squares. That's the context. Plus, it has a decent amount of depth. The star is the restored facade, not the dorm. It's meant to be "backstage" and unobtrusive.

If they think they'll attract tourists, let them think that. More importantly, this is a perfectly valid neighborhood amenity that will no doubt attract at least the well-heeled residents that still like to cook. Or maybe their personal chefs...

No way. This one seems so much more pure than Fifth or Boylston. This almost seems like it holds some sort of monument to Modern/Minimalism inside. I can't get enough of those stone walls. And the arced glass roof is just right, in terms of concavity and the amount of supports. This and Regent...

Dueling pianos...maybe Andrew W.K. and Chilly Gonzales will pay a visit.
