Fucking casinos, they sound so good and so wonderful. I can never decide if they are. I want something like Monaco, like what czsz mentioned, but I can't shake the feeling that we'll end up with some half-assed Lumiere Place.

My oh my! That Rockport quarry is unreal! And to think all they really had to do was fill it with water.

    More Fenway Park Renovations

College teams also have a much bigger automatic fan base than most professional teams do. And yeah, 30 to 40 years? Bullshit! Fenway can be there as long as they want to keep it there.

Re: Filene's Cambridge didn't attract biotechs; Harvard and MIT did. Because most of those biotechs were started by alums. Building a "fashion mecca" isn't thinking out of the box. And if there's anything this board has come to agree upon, it's that outside the box thinking isn't always the...

Nope, never even heard of it. Worth checking out? Or did you mean that it was a bad example?

Re: Filene's I was being more critical of The Rifleman's rhetoric, but certainly I can see what you mean in terms of how Filene's has been handled by the city But going off on how they should just bring back some mom 'n' pop stores, and hell, just throw in a Blue Chip, irks me a little bit. We...

There's this roast beef chain in St. Louis - nothing special, mind you - but they do sell a small $0.14 soft serve ice cream cone. No idea how much it affects their bottom line, but people get them all the time.

Re: Filene's You talk about the matter as if it were as simple as going to the grocery stores and picking up some ingredients for a recipe! It's not!

Which is a bummer, because geographically, old quarries are the shit. So much could have been done, yet, so little is accomplished. I wouldn't have minded some really cool state/city park in an old quarry, to be honest.

Re: Filene's Dude, really? Where did that article mention anything about bailouts? And how do you go from "luxury condo box POS" to "downtown is ruined" to "Blue Chips?" Won't the Blue Chips want to build more luxury condo box POS's? And how does investment in downtown, ruin it?

    The Clarendon

Ha. Good one. Once again, the goddamn crown kills it. Otherwise, it's really not a bad building at all. Goofy mullions, sure, but a hell of a lot better than any other high rise.

Well, I mean, I had never really seen any broad angle shots - just little detail ones from their Facebook page. For some reason, they made it seem like a much better design than it actually is, taken overall. But, point taken. The sad truth.

Well, it's not terrible with material choice. But the design is downright boring. I was expecting something a lot more interesting.

    Suffolk Downs Casino?

No. Do you? My use of words such as "leaning," "feel," and "might" were meant to dispel any notion that I was declaring my opinion as the truth. Apparently that didn't work.

Silver Line - Phase III / BRT in Boston

Eventually, it'll be replaced with an overhead wire-free tram. They have them in Europe. I will personally see to it that the system is in place at some point in the next 25 years. Don't ask me how, it just will.

Pretty sure it's the same in Missouri. Might be something like DigSmart. Not positive. They have those same television ads, where some guy wants to put in a new mailbox but he calls it in first.
