    Heading to Vegas!

I didn’t make it that far north but saw the type in my one other visit to a casino. That was in Detroit a little over a decade ago. Not a spot I’ve considered revisiting.

    Heading to Vegas!

Flew to Vegas for the weekend to catch Anyma’s last show at the Sphere. Awesome performance in a truly unique and well run venue. Highly recommend watching some of the clips available online as they made great use of the video component. These aren’t my videos but were some of my favorite scenes...

Old Port Square (née Canal Plaza) | Portland

I like it. Speaks to the direction we should be moving in.

    Kennebec Block

Exciting stuff! Would be cool if the woonerf planned as part of this project could connect to the shared street proposed in what I believe we’re referring to as the 196 Lancaster project.

    Westbrook, ME

That much housing deserves some ground level commercial space.

    Parcel 5

Couldn’t agree more, the Design Center Partners proposal is my favorite. Unique and pleasing design paired with an interior pedestrian street. Very cool!

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Building E is well underway. I didn’t see any indication construction has begun on the other buildings.

The apartment buildings described in post 86 are going up fast.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Why was this structure demolished? Was it in poor repair? Demolished to create the park? A bit of both or some other reason entirely?

    Biddeford/Saco Developments

Biked the Eastern Trail to Biddeford today and was wowed by all the new (to me) restaurants downtown. If you’re looking for a smoothie and banh mi, Vickie’s Veggie Table and BiddoBanh will treat you well. Work continues on Landing on the Levee and the project first described in post 39 is nearly...

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

Wrapping up a trip to Switzerland. All of the cities and towns I visited were pedestrian friendly and well connected by frequent intercity rail but the photos below focus on Bern. I stayed in the older part of the city. Loved the arcades, mid block passages, and urban stairwells. Gave the city a...

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

Love that line of thinking. Looks like it’s owned by CMP, based on the data in the city’s GIS.

    Portland Passenger Rail

NNEPRA’s preference for site 3 is expected but disappointing. Site three is at least .5 miles from Congress street- the spine of METRO’s bus service featuring 15 minute frequencies. Site three is the least pedestrian friendly, despite assertions otherwise, as there are few residences and...

    Portsmouth

Walked around Portsmouth today after biking the completed portion of the NH Seacoast Trail. The construction photos were taken near Maplewood and Deer. The other two photos are of the pedestrian corridors created, in part, by the building at Penhallow and Daniel.

    General Portland Discussion

I’d love to see a mini version of this built when the PTC is relocated. It’ll be hugely disappointing if we don’t get a pedestrian-oriented mixed-use development but, based on the concepts NNEPRA has displayed, external parties will need to push them in that direction because they lack the...

    Brunswick Development

Love these new bike racks outside of the Brunswick train station. The covered bike parking is often full so more racks are important but tying it into the space by using the station code really takes it to the next level.

    Providence developments

Cool rendering but I’m inclined to agree that the money is likely better spent on improving service.
