MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Yep. I agree with more parties, however, we should turn out focus back into the Scott topic. Nothing wrong with going off-topic for a bit. :)

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Agreed. Had Coakley been our governor instead of Baker, I bet people would start blaming her or the State House, but I highly doubt Democrats would be critical of other Democrats during this storm. Since Baker is our governor, it is easier for Liberals to blame...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Better Bus service is a start to move cars into public transit especially in a city such as Boston. Late-Night Service can allow businesses to extend the hours of operation, so the city can still be lively during the night. Somebody should have told the Herald...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns it pretty much explains the rhetoric used to derail any attempt to raise the gas tax, increase taxes to fund the system, etc. Of course, we should cut waste and big pensions, but those millions of dollars in cuts don't come close to the billions of dollars in...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Any thoughts on this from the Boston Herald? http://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_coverage/2015/02/spending_soared_on_mbta_boss_beverly_scotts_watch "Overall, the T payroll soared by nearly $80 million to $543.7 million last year, a 17 percent increase...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Honestly, if Massachusetts wanted to fix the MBTA, we should expand public transit across Massachusetts and increase ridership. Raise the Gas Tax, so people are discouraged to use cars and fund maintaining highways. More riders into the MBTA increases revenues...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns We know that Baker or Coakley (if she was our governor) has no control over how much revenues and budgeting, so how is he the blame? He can only run the adminstration from the budget sent to him from the legislative branch. We have a supermajority in our State...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Even if the pensions are extremely overpaid (Ex: Scott), cutting the waste still wouldn't even provide the necessary allocations of money of billions+ dollars to buy new tracks, trains, utilities, increase service hours, pay the workers' wages, connect North/Soth...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: Dr. Beverly Scott resigns Sad. She tried to get the MBTA running, but the infrastructure is so bad. I might not know all the facts, but is she resigning because she is underfire by the Baker adminstration, public pressure, free-will, or maybe a internal cover-up of some corruption? Also...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Any thoughts on making the Urban Ring entirely rapid transit subway with parts of it "at grade"?

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Re: Extension of the Red line to Brockton Fair grounds? No. I have been in Boston for most of my life. Yes, Fenway Party will stay as Fenway Park. The Redsox might relocate to a new stadium somewhere else, but the park still stay where it is.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Re: Extension of the Red line to Brockton Fair grounds? By 2024, I think the Redsox will probably relocate to a different stadium. The new stadium will be used for Olympic baseball. Fenway Park will probably be turned into an historical site, but it will have the ability to play baseball.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

How about constructing a new rapid transit line starting from the middle of Revere/Everett/or Chelsea.... Then.... you tunnel the subway to East Boston for one stop. After that stop, it travels under the Harbor to Northern Part of Charlestown. Place at maximum 2 stops in Charlestown's eastern...

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

If the Blue Line were to be extended into Back Bay from the Connector, the stations would have to be in the area above Commonwealth Avenue from the Public Garden

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

Once we get the Blue Line to connect to Charles/MGH, maybe we could start imagining extending the Blue Line into Back Bay. :)

    Blue Line extension to Lynn

Agreed, but Subway Lines should stop there and don't go beyond 1-95 semi-circle.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

The Blue Line has low ridership because it has a fewer amount of stations compared to other MBTA rapid transit lines. Also, it serves a less populated area than the rest. I think the Red-Blue Connection should be the 1st piority of any MBTA extension. What is the hold up on the construction...

    Blue Line extension to Lynn

Yep. Saugus is sparsely populated, so it is one of the problems with this left turn route. I think 1 station is better than 2, if we could build the line and redevelop the area. We could just avoid Saugus all together, but continue around the marsh. Either way, both might be unfeasible. As for...
