    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I was doing this last night and I couldn't see any sign of MT, leading me to believe it was stock footage.

Condo + Retail Project | 124-126 Salem Street | North End

I love the styling on this one. It's bold and modern yet maintains the historic consistency of the neighborhood. Granted some might bash it for being too "flashy" for the North End, but I don't agree with that. It stands out but in a good way. This is what good urban infill looks like -...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

So how does this not violate the FAA's restriction of 800 (or possibly 700) feet, according to that map that gets occasionally posted? Interesting information though, I'd wondered how high the crane was when the tip of the boom was seen shooting straight up from afar. It looked really high...

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

There is a ground breaking ceremony for this one scheduled for Sept 17 at 4pm. I believe the mayor will be in attendance. I'd assume the B+GC will come down sometime between now and then.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

While I like the density and the retail and the fact they are building to the sidewalk I don't like the faux historic styling at all. What is it about all these gaps that get built with stuff that looks dated by 100 years as soon as it's finished?

AvalonBay Tower (Jacob Wirth's) | 45 Stuart Street | Downtown

how in this "historic" city does zoning allow for that garish "now leasing" sign? I didn't like the one on 45 Province either but at least some thought went into that design and it was covering up an otherwise blank wall.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

It's bad design yes but fortunately it's the only badly designed new building in the area which consists mostly of nice old apartment buildings and strip malls. So it's good to at least see something new going on there, however lackluster the design.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, that area is not dense at all. It's not particularly active or vibrant either, this will certainly inject some life. Though I guess those who prefer areas to stay quiet and residential will be upset but West Somerville is becoming more urban with each passing day.

MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

What is their reasoning for taking down Eastgate? If it's just "better design" that sounds wasteful and egotistical. Given what just happened to Bexely nobody should be giving MIT any benefit of the doubt when it comes to architecture/planning.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

    Pictures don't really do justice to the massive impact this building is having on the skyline from Cambridge, especially on the Memorial Drive esplanade;

Novartis Campus | 181-211 Mass Ave, 22 Windsor Street | Kendall Square | Cambridge

What I don't like about the stonework is the metal bracing creating a grid effect. It breaks up the pattern in an annoying way, where it otherwise would be a consistent facade. From a block or two a way it looks better. Overall I like the design, gives the eye something to do in what is...

Canvas - Mixed Use Tower (old Felt location) | 533 Washington St | Downtown Crossing

I walked by there the other night but couldn't see much with the dark and scaffolding. I think there was maybe one story of steel frame but this might still be part of demolition, since there was a sign up for that going in. Near the doorway to the Italian restaurant there are some big posters...

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

I doubt you can afford one of the "affordable" units in Assembly if you are only making 15k a year. The "lower" limit on those units are usually something like 35k. The only way to be living in Somerville on that income is if you are in state or federal public housing. The highest concentration...

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

This passage confuses me for a couple reasons; It sounds to me like the public school is on the side of 93 where most poor people near Assembly live. The exception would be in Ten Hills, but you wouldn't go anywhere near the Kensington Underpass in such a case (not that their solutions are...
