    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

I don't have details but I read that there was a change of developers. Right now this lot is truly the bane of my walks down Mass Ave, especially now that it's sunny out and this is the shady side of the street.

    Casey Overpass

demolition of Casey Arborway from last week. Lots of work is happening on the north side in terms of building the road way but it now looks as if demolition on the overpass itself is beginning, though it remains open to cars; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lIUe5TJ_p8

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I posted a picture of this angle a couple weeks ago; http://www.archboston.org/community/showpost.php?p=230901&postcount=5744 I'm sure the tower's gotten a lot bigger since then.

MIT Officer Collier Memorial | MIT | Cambridge

I haven't actually been there yet so can't critique fairly, but there is not necessarily anything wrong with a minimalist contemplative space as opposed to a place to have a party, considering the history of what happened there. That said, I did walk by it a block away on Main St and it seemed...

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

ok then I take back my last post, clearly others here know more about this parcel and have a more credible opinion on the matter.

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

The overall pedestrian experience out front is pretty decent, especially with that park and the pathway to the Zakim and into Boston/Charlestown. Walking from North Point park though, you realize what an atrocity this thing is as architecture. It's pure utilitarian square footage. I'm sure it's...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 Aren't the developers behind MT competing with these guys for 111 Federal? Maybe they want to make them look goofy, which this picture kinda does with the "bracketing" angle and the lack of a crown.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development Cambridge To clarify, I lean pretty far left on most issues, economic and social, so I sympathize with what I think most of the stuff these terms are supposed to represent. Words like "green" and "open space" could stand for something very important...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Guess I'm in the minority but I like walls, or rather platforms you can walk on. Different vantage points, breaks up the monotony of flat topography. I'm assuming it's going to look a lot better than those lousy pixelated renderings. Of course I'm one of those people who thought the Greenway...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I was driving and turned down Somerville Ave from Porter Square, and the view of this was quite stunning. It took me a few moments to realize what I was looking at, it was weird to see it so prominent that far from downtown. I would imagine this is now becoming very visible from other far flung...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development Cambridge Maybe this but my interpretation for the push to get open space was because it ties into a bunch of emotional concept words liberals fetishize like "green", "public", "communal" and "equity" (this last one really has been making scream...

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

I'm surprised to hear so much negativity towards Assembly Row. Maybe it's just me but I like going there mainly for the outdoor drinking space on the water in River Bar and also having Slumbrew nearby, but I also think the amphitheater is an excellent space for festivals and events. The Lego...

    Quincy Center Redevelopment

Re: $1 billion development proposed to reshape downtown Quincy As much as Alewife sucks design wise, it's still in Cambridge which means it will always be a more desirable place to live than Quincy. You're a short train ride from every Red Line hot spot and can even walk or bike easily to a...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development Cambridge That was proposed but don't know how serious it was taken. It would be moronic to tear down a bunch of functional and relatively affordable housing, all in the name of "better design" or some other abstract concept. As for Volpe, I don't...

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Have you ever tried using that crossing? I have, and the number of cars that stopped for me to let me cross can be counted on zero hands. The crossing might well not exist. Plus it's not like the other side of the road is some pedestrian mecca. It's still a pretty narrow sidewalk all the way...
