GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) Well I would have come better prepared if I thought I was going to get fact-checked on every sentence. I'm currently a third-year student and I have to call bs on most of your statements. In fact its mostly the overzealous tour...

Tree House Residence Hall Tower @ MassArt | 578 Huntington Avenue | Fenway

Re: Mass Art Dormitory I was down there yesterday, and I must say this building really fills in the right side of huntington ave if you're coming in from the west. It fills in the space in the streetwall thats visible between the Charlesgate and WVH. I'm sure the GrandMarc will also be great...

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) ^Realistically for a city campus you can't not have mega residence halls. If the student wants to go to a city university, this is what they should expect. And there isn't much sense of community at Northeastern anyway with all...

Is that what he wanted? I thought he just wanted to build a skyscraper and better capitalize on his own land.

    Charlestown - CANA Parcels 3 and 6

Man those townhouses are ugly. It is impossible in this day and age to recreate the buildings of Charlestown, and any effort to do so is destined to fail. Since no modern design would be accepted by the neighborhood, the only acceptable thing to do is to leave this lot as grass.

Museum Of Science Renovations | 1 Science Park | West End

Re: Museum Of Science Renovation/ Addition The reason that cambridge building looks so good in black and white is for just that reason, it's not colored. In reality that building has ugly yellowish cladding. It also helps seeing it from a distance because this building also lacks any sort of...

    Fan Pier Developments | Seaport

Wow what a great rendering, but it doesn't show the complete buildout of the area unfortunately. I hate the curvy building, I hope it doesn't happen, it'll be another Manulife John Hancock. And it's going to suck for the ICA once these are all built and that marina is in place, it's just...

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) I just went back to the beginning of this thread and wow, did they really chop this thing down. The earliest rendering show at least 30 stories, that thing was massive!

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) Woot new development! Two questions: was this the final hurdle, will demolition and construction begin soon? And what is the story behind the naming "GrandMarc"? It sounds like a Vegas casino. I think this is a great project...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

The harbor view from Boston sucks lol, all you have to look at is the airport and crummy East Boston. The good view is from East Boston, where you have a stunning view of the FiDi. Also a sidenote, apparently the Legal Seafoods (that's now partially open) at Liberty Wharf is by far the largest...

    Government Center Renovation

If this were a private company the job could be done in 3 months, probably less. This is completely ridiculous. Every time I think the people running this city have reached a new summit to their stupidity, they keep climbing. As for the union workers that will be doing this, if you have no...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I didn't suggest generous philanthropists fund the parks, I only aligned my response with earlier suggestions in this thread that contributions like this were being made. I can hardly feel bad for the property developers paying to maintain parks when most of them get subsidized to build in the...

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Expansion | West End

What was the point of putting so much effort into building over and around a historic building in the 1970s (or whenever this was built) if, 40 years later when the building is even older and more historic, you were just going to demolish it anyway? And the ridiculous complaints of the...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I don't see what your point is stellar, though I do appreciate your well thought post. I'm personally happy with the appearance of most Boston parks, and I don't often come across complaints about their states. If Boston can do a good enough job maintaining these parks with $20 million, why...

Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Boston Herald property sold Again, I've worked at one and I didn't get that feeling at all.^ These are well off people in this neighborhood and they're willing to pay for the higher quality products that most of these stores sell....otherwise these businesses wouldn't be around right now.

Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Boston Herald property sold Don't all the rich people in the South End go to corner grocers? I worked at one on Tremont Street for a short time and these places have a pretty solidly loyal customer base. It doesn't seem like corporate supermarkets like Whole Foods would do good business...
