Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Boston Herald property sold This area of the city is like a Bermuda Triangle for me. I've only been there when I've gotten lost.

Liberty Mutual Tower | 157 Berkeley Street | Back Bay

Re: Liberty Mutual plans major Boston expansion Has the design changed at all? Is it still going to be the same as in the renderings?

    The Clarendon

This building is graceless. It is without grace.

Massachusetts General Hospital Building For The Third Century

Yeah the problem with wood is that it won't last as long as the rest of the building. I feel like in 20 or 30 years all these wood clad buildings will be replacing it with some ugly prefab material or something.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital | Navy Yard | Charlestown

Somehow this thread has evaded me, so that's what this construction is. I just noticed this going up the other day (I live directly across the harbor from it) only I thought it was condos or something. What a handsome building, love that '50s retro!

    W Hotel | 100 Stuart St | Theater District

Re: W Hotel Wow what a disaster for this company, but at least we got a nice building out of it!

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I don't understand these people. I love to see new buildings being built and new development occurring. They'd all prefer that everything remains exactly as it is for the rest of time. It doesn't make sense to me. I hate the Greenway.

    The Affordable Housing Thread

Re: The Clarendon If developers had control they'd pack these people into the smallest livable spaces in the drabbest cheapest buildings possible. We tried this once, it was called the Guilded Age. It didn't work out well.

Re: The Clarendon Well in my opinion Mission Park is a little bit nicer than these...but I agree.

High Speed Rail (Boston to... Texas?)

Its a great idea and will hopefully reduce car and plane use. I've ridden high-speed rail in Europe and it really was a delight to be able to get from place to place so quickly, comfortably, and safely. But...why devote a lot of resources to something that isn't really needed (as in we have...

Where am I? The photo contest

GAH that creepy warehouse can be seen from my bathroom window! That thing is located in East Boston, right behind Maverick Landing where I live.

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) I didn't mean to imply they did lol, but it's good PR to be able to say that you give back to the community.

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) Here's an idea. Tear the gym down and open up time for YMCA members to use the nearby Cabot or Marino Centers, a chance for Northeastern to give back to the community. The gym is in no way worth keeping, and would do no harm to...

Tree House Residence Hall Tower @ MassArt | 578 Huntington Avenue | Fenway

Re: Mass Art Dormitory That field is really important to Wentworth though I think and it's certainly very well used. It probably blended a lot better when Northeastern was just a bunch of parking lots though.

    Boston population rises to 645K

As gentrification sets in in the urban core, the poor population that once occupied it is forced further out to the inner ring suburbs with the older housing stocks, while the wealthy move back to the core or further out in the suburbs. That Chicago Tribune map is cool, too bad Boston's isn't...

Tree House Residence Hall Tower @ MassArt | 578 Huntington Avenue | Fenway

Re: Mass Art Dormitory ^Yes it is but there are also a few decrepit Northeastern dorms on the block too. I agree though this stretch of Huntington is getting to be nice. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Wentworth decides to raze those horrible brown brick dorms in favor of some more towers...

691 Mass Ave | South End

Re: 691 Mass Ave I agree this building has a nice proportion and scale to it. I have to reserve judgment on the cladding until its finished though.
