Yeah the problem with wood is that it won't last as long as the rest of the building. I feel like in 20 or 30 years all these wood clad buildings will be replacing it with some ugly prefab material or something.

Somehow this thread has evaded me, so that's what this construction is. I just noticed this going up the other day (I live directly across the harbor from it) only I thought it was condos or something. What a handsome building, love that '50s retro!

I don't understand these people. I love to see new buildings being built and new development occurring. They'd all prefer that everything remains exactly as it is for the rest of time. It doesn't make sense to me. I hate the Greenway.

Re: The Clarendon If developers had control they'd pack these people into the smallest livable spaces in the drabbest cheapest buildings possible. We tried this once, it was called the Guilded Age. It didn't work out well.

Re: Mass Art Dormitory That field is really important to Wentworth though I think and it's certainly very well used. It probably blended a lot better when Northeastern was just a bunch of parking lots though.

As gentrification sets in in the urban core, the poor population that once occupied it is forced further out to the inner ring suburbs with the older housing stocks, while the wealthy move back to the core or further out in the suburbs. That Chicago Tribune map is cool, too bad Boston's isn't...

Re: Mass Art Dormitory ^Yes it is but there are also a few decrepit Northeastern dorms on the block too. I agree though this stretch of Huntington is getting to be nice. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Wentworth decides to raze those horrible brown brick dorms in favor of some more towers...
