T to roll out new maps to boost use of its buses

Interesting that the Wonderland to Lynn bus gets so little ridership. Is that a commuter rail redundancy issue or would a potential Blue Line extension suffer similarly?

    Tir Na Nog

I kind of like them and I'm young and not Irish. I go to those bars when I want to drink a pint and have a conversation.

Statler...just go away. Everyone here hates you, and your opinions on politics are all stupid, stupid, STUPID!

I'm surprised it took so long for this tremendously ignorant, stupid statement to be challenged.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Honest question: is there a big city transit system in America that's in good financial shape? Charlie on the MBTA (http://charlieonthembta.blogspot.com/), which is a great transit blog, has been writing about the dire straits Chicago is in, and it just seems like there are endless parallels...

Out of curiosity, what kind of shape are the MTA's finances in?

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

That's pretty helpful, but I would argue that it's not a very good use of resources. I think for the first couple weeks (maybe that's when you got your card) it makes sense that the T would proactively and personally hand out the cards. But after that, why pay a full time staff person to hand...

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

Wouldn't it have been great if the T had made such a succinct explanation readily available at T fare machines? And, wouldn't it have been great if the T had installed a Charlie Card dispenser in each T fare machine?

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Dude...what you're not understanding is that Dorchester is a borough of Boston with many neighborhoods. It's flat wrong to say that Dorchester is a ghetto. You could argue that there are neighborhoods within it that are ghettos. Savin Hill, Ashmont Hill, Lower Mills, Adams Village are all...

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

The Ferdinand Building is, as I understand it, city-owned and so it's a pretty unique opportunity as a cornerstone building in a neighborhood that needs the investment. Also, there isn't a place on your list that holds the potential that Dudley does as a result of its position as a busway (and...

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Dudley's a transportation hub for a big swath of the City and connected to every other part as well. It's also a place that could be much more than it is with a little investment. It could become a new hub of activity for everyone in the city and a growth area. I think it makes a ton of sense...

I've never heard that building referred to as the R2D2 building. It's been the Darth Vader building for as long as I can remember.

    Boston's Waterfront

I don't understand how it could be considered suburban other than its not having a building on it. I use it all the time for lunch, and tourism and being great for lunch seem like good reasons for having a park. It's filled most of the summer and I'm pretty sure it's used by many people from...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

Colleges in Downtown Crossing is a great solution to its issues. It could so easily become a bigger Harvard Square, and 24 hours at that.

    The Future MBTA

Re: I love it Ideally, the more frequent subway transit would take the place of frequent commuter rail. If they were to keep the commuter rail lines that extend beyond, through Lynn for example, they could skip all intermediary stations and make the commuter rail trip more express.

Van, in future map #6, why is it that the Yellow circle line's Longwood Medical stop doesn't connect with the Green Line's E branch?
