South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Most exciting project now. 677' is a good height for Boston.

    NYC Transit

London tube is roughly as massive as NYC Subway, but way more confusing to figure out with all their weird branches. NYC is much easier to figure out once you get the hang of it. Itself a feat given how big the system is.

Yeah a lot of metros are growing faster than GB. So a few that are on our heels will surpass us. Still, as long as Boston crosses 5M (which hopefully will happen by 2025) thats a pretty big milestone. Will be interesting to see how close the census estimates are to the actual 2020 census.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Boston will probably take a hit. I'm sure the rest of the country will still keep putting up 500 footers, 800 footers, and 1000 footers. NYC will probably put up 10 thousand-footers in the next 5 years. Cities on Boston's level like Seattle, SF, Philly will probably still put up 800 footers...

Are they still working on construction through the pandemic so far?

    COVID-19 in Boston

I work at a grocery store and I can attest to this being spot on.

    COVID-19 in Boston

This might sound like an insensitive comment, but with sports already gone, I really hope construction on WST, SST, and other buildings doesn't get stopped for long. I need some entertainment in my life.

    COVID-19 in Boston

IDK how anti-malarial drugs (Trump was pushing chloroquine apparently) is going to help given that malaria is caused by a protzoan and not a virus.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Whoa...looks like its going vertical for real now. This and MT will kinda be like twin towers downtown!

    Cambridge skyline photos

Didn't realize Cambridge has a skyline. Impressive. Its no Jersey City, but still quite impressive.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Just shows how slow these developments are in Boston as opposed to almost any other city in the US. For example right now in Nashville there is one 500 footer and about 7-8 300 footers u/c. 300' are to Nashville what 500' is to Boston. The funny thing is, as rapidly as Nashville is growing, its...

I agree. This tower looks great. Might even look better than Winthrop Center. Most important, its a 200+ meter addition to a city that has a good number of 150+ buildings but is more vertically challenged by most of her peers.

2 450 foot towers? Is the Alcott going to be a twin tower structure???

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Just saw the wikipedia page for "tallest buildings in Boston" and it just updated SST's notes in the last couple of days and says "project put on hold". Does anyone know why that is or what it means? How can that be if construction will start in 1 month's time???

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

It really does and I would say its because of the high density of the Boston core. I had mentioned once that Boston "seems bigger" than Philadelphia and that is plausible because the Boston core is much denser than Philly and Greater Philly is only 20% bigger than Greater Boston (6 million vs 5...

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Thanks for the info. No wonder I hadn't heard of them. Surprised they haven't gone to NYC, LA, DC, Miami before Boston.

So is this pretty much confirmed to be U/C in terms of status? Are the starting construction next month (Jan 2020)???

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Awesome news. So is it reasonable to expect construction to start in 2020 and completion by 2023 or 2024? This will really be another great addition to the downtown core along with WST and MT.
