...totally agree with the Padre. I have only seen this fountain at night and in that context have found it to be utterly captivating. Equally captivating is watching how passers-by react to the fountain's choreography. The color-changing-light-blade-sculpture-things are great as a back drop.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

...must be a mistake...Market Street already exists - it's the 2-block long street between [what's left of] the tip of the Bulfinch Triangle and the Government Center Garage.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style - Part Deux

I guess it's about time that I got into the image posting scene. AdamBC made it sound simple enough in reply to rayray...I think I can handle it. A couple shots from the top of the Dock Square garage: 60 State and 28 State forming a gateway to the Financial District Pointy hats

    Northeastern eyes dorms

It's time for someone to grab a camera and take a few new shots of this project. The steel is up to about the 10th floor as of today.

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

Today is that day... I was in the neighborhood this morning - they're starting to take it down on the "building" next to the arcade entry.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

No need to despair yet, Lexicon. I can tell you that the roof garden still exists, the light reflectors still exist, the glass covered plaza still exists...the only thing not currently in the scope is external elevators.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

The Chinatown Park officially opened today with a lunch-time ceremony. This little "edge" park is nicely done. With 5 years of growth on the trees and plants, it'll be great. There's a significant open plaza area which hopefully will soon get filled with vendors or tables for mah-jhong, etc...

Trumping Tommy's Tower Plan: the San francisco finalists

I completely agree...the SOM proposal is refreshingly graceful and elegant. Rogers' and Pelli's designs are merely reinterpretations of existing structures...I don't presume to speak on behalf of the residents of SF, but wouldn't they want their signature tower to be something unique?

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Padre, you hit the nail on the head with your somber but accurate point: We're all critical of the Greenway in its current unfinished state, complaining that it lacks this and that; but only 2 1/2 years ago we were still looking at remnants of the expressway. The point: the parks may be...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I have a fair amount of business at various buildings along the Greenway and have watched these parks evolve over the course of the last year. Sure, they're probably a bit over-cooked, trying to be both edgy and pastoral at the same time. But what they're missing right now in their current...

    Two Financial Center

...they weren't just teasing us. As of lunch time today, the only vehicle in the parking lock was a back hoe.

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

The arcade, which is essentially tacked onto the back of the Mandarin, will become an extension of the current retail mall, connecting the existing mall with new retail within the Mandarin (L'espalier being the first tenant to come out) and ultimately leading to Lord and Taylor. Because the...

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

To dispel a misconception here - except for the precast concrete panels at the retail arcade at the back of the Mandarin, all of the masonry on the project that looks like limestone truly is bonafide quarried limestone, including window sills and headers. You will begin to see significantly...
