Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos Springfield? Isn't that way outside the MBTA district?

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

If the building were not so aggressively ugly, there would be more sentiment for keeping it and reusing it. The architecture is the problem here, not the height.

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos I can't figure out any way to click on any of those items to get more information. What and where is a Knowledge Corridor?

in particular, what happens to all of the horse barns now in Revere? Does the track just shut down without them?

    Boston 2024

They did that in Los Angeles in 1984. That turned out pretty well, no? (It did help that this was LA's second Olympics.)

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

It sounds like the East Cambridge neighborhood group would prefer a total demolition followed by new construction on the site. (And if I lived there, I might prefer that, too.)

Is there a retail space on the ground floor of that Inman Square project?

"The Beat" | 135 Morrissey (Boston Globe Site) | Dorchester

Re: Globe Site You don't want that to dominate, but you need some of it. Ask anyone in Kendall Square about that area's mystifying lack of a drugstore.

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

Someone a while back asked about the Stuart Theatre. I don't think any trace of it remains after it was converted to a McDonald's. In its final decade or so, it was renamed the Pussycat.

    Key MBTA Bus Routes

As a rider of the #77, I've definitely noticed some of the stop removals in Cambridge. I don't think the work is complete, as the outbound Mass Ave / Dover Street stop was supposed to be moved to the far side, and that hasn't happened yet.

    Boston 2024

This means (as I've said before) that New Hampshire or Vermont would be a better place than Boston to host a Winter Olympics.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 wonder where those are going to go? We don't have a lot of empty land, we don't want to displace productive industrial areas (such as the former American Tube Works and Ames Envelope sites), and tearing down blocks of 1-3 family houses in order to...

Four if you include Matthews Arena at Northeastern University (which was long ago home to both the Celtics and Bruins) I haven't heard of the third one. Where is it?

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 That's Browning Road. A very nice street, but if you asked most people in Somerville for the "most high end street', the answer you'd probably get is Westwood Road (on Spring Hill, but not quite on the hilltop). Other especially attractive...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 There's a substantial push-back to preserve the light-industrial area west of Market Basket and not let it succumb to condo development. That area contains Artisan's Asylum, Brooklyn Boulders, soon-to-open Aeronaut Brewery, and a bunch of other...

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 Somerville hipsters don't go to Starbucks. They/We go to Diesel, Bloc 11, Sherman, Fortissimo, True Grounds, and the Armory Cafe. Speaking of which, the Diesel/Bloc 11 folks are about to open 'Forge Baking Company' just a stone's throw from Wilson...

Meadow Glen Mall Redevelopment | Medford

So if they aren't out of money, why can't they finish and open that store in Revere? I like Market Basket, but their failure to complete there is worrisome.

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 Somerville also has a scattering of MIT and Harvard students. What that has to do with the presence or absence of Starbucks, I'm not sure.
