New Red and Orange Line Cars

People keep voting Republicans who just say "cut taxes", "cut taxes", "cut taxes". Well that's what you get when you just keep cutting taxes... Rust buckets. Then again Democrats make it too easy because they spend money like it is water. There needs to be a happy medium where you can vote...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

The MBTA was sued by privacy groups over retaining too much customer data. I don't think anybody in that dept. would want to go through that headache all over again. http://archive.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/04/16/some_call_ts_new_charlie_card_an_invasion_of_privacy/

    Whats left to build on?

Cali-Pizza and Star I would estimate are above the E-line of the Green Line. Could be a bit of a challenge.

    Urban Ring

Yes! That would be a common-sense terminus.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link In 100-150 years (or whenever) North Station's stadium just needs to be rebuilt it seems all around North Station is going to be occupied or towers so they wont be able to build a new stadium next to the existing building as they did in the 1980-1990s. Perhaps at that...

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

OMG. I am assuming the sunshine coming off that building is going to be blinding like the office building in Waltham along Route 128 by the Cambridge Reservoir. A few buildings come to mind when I look at that. 1) The building located at the corner of Avery +Washington Street downtown. It...

    The Boston "what if" thread

The poor in Lynn would have been pushed further out with gentrification, less people in Lynn would opt to ride the MBTA if they had higher disposable income (i.e. like Wellesley, Newton.) then we'd be talking about the Blue Line going one more town over trying to reach people who got pushed...

    The Boston "what if" thread

According to the plan all municipalities within 11-12 miles of Boston's City Hall were to be annexed to the capital city. I feel with all of that under one municipality that Boston may have been like Philadelphia. Good areas, badd areas, and not enough money to go around to fix up all.

    Blue line idea

Re: State Agrees to Design Link between Red and Blue lines That would be an odd route. Those buildings at Inman are protected and way to short to spur that kind of investment. Inman would need to be upzoned way more stories. There's some highrise developments in Cambridge along the Charles...

    Air Rights (writ-large) Thread

I wonder how they will get that done? These sections run from street level down into the series of big dig tunnels. Therefore wouldn't that require at least buildings of two or more stories on the Rose Kennedy Greenway to cover these areas? Perhaps something like how Copley Mall covers the...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

The MBTA tries advertisement revenue but then every few months once the MBTA finds a lucrative advertisement source like the Alcohol companies, http://www.wbur.org/2015/10/05/mbta-alcohol-advertisements-ban or the gaming sites which allow people to win money...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Mass. is full of false starts. Silver Line has been done in pieces. The tunnel to connect the Dudley Branch to South Station still hasn't been done. North-South Rail Link wasn't done even though a large part of the cost of the Big Dig was the idea of having walls that extend from the Central...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

RE: That's a curious route. There's a current alternative. Right at corner of Prospect Street/Western Avenue with Mass. Ave is a station entrance to the Red Line. Plus Red Line runs FAR more frequent than Commuter Rail.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Vote out the Democrats and put in whom? Republicans which signed all those sweetheart deals with Wall Street under Mittens and bankrupted the MBTA in the first place? Good way to repeat history. People of Mass. are getting just what they voted for in Mittens... The best thing Mass. could do is...

Evolution of the Prudential Center: 1954-1989

OMG What you said brought back memories... I just remembered how badd it used to be when the Prudential mall area was like a wind swept wind tunnel in the middle of the winter. And the doors used to slam shut behind you when they close from the wind. It was indeed awful it used to be soo...

Replacing the Tobin with a tunnel

Those freighters should be offloaded at one of the outer harbor islands and fed by pipeline back into Boston. It would be much safer that way. Mayor Menino was always nervous about what would happen to the City of Boston if a terrorist detonated one of those fuel ships close to downtown Boston...

Replacing the Tobin with a tunnel

I wondered the same thing... I doubt there's enough space to build a new replacement 2-land bridge next to the current structure, and it's that same era as what Upper and Lower decks used to be made out of. The Tobin's life-span could be up in a few decades (if that). There's already a partial...

    Commuter Rail Reconfiguration

I find it odd Massachusetts has no plan to extend the Worcester line directly to the (almost totally unused) Worcester Airport and yet there's discussion to extend the CR to Manchester Airport, or- Massachusetts's past effort for pushing to extending to the T.F. Green airport in Rhode Island.
