The ceiling could be one long ticker tape of ads.

    Paying for Naming the T

LOL That was awesome. Should remove to alcohol ban though. As many breweries as there are in Boston; that is prime space. ~C.

    BCEC expansion | Seaport

All these places in top 10 except D.C. and Chicago are fairly warm places. :-) I love going to conventions during the winter in warm places too. HATE having winter conventions up north. I can see their choices for what they are warm or major hubs.

Questions on the purpose/economics of The Ride

The Ride is outsourced already and has been for years. Four separate companies run The RIDE. Each having a different area of the Greater.B.Area. See this map to see which private company serves what area and bills the MBTA/MASSDOT...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos The MBTA was busy getting their discount on that fare system for being a test city AND the former governor was only too happy because the German company based its U.S. subsidiary in Burlington. NOTE- They've since moved out west after getting more...

    Portland-Auburn Commuter Rail

I thought the conservatives in NH were staunchly against anymore rail. 1) Since 'it wasn't in the interest of NH to have anymore rail extended to Boston' plus 2) 'it cost too much with only limited benefits to that state?' They said the car would always have to reign supreme in NH anyways...

Montreal-to-Boston Overnight "Hotel" Train Via Portland

Oye. I left Mont at 815am and didn't reach S. Station until 5pm. That thing stopped in every nook and cranny. Next time I would have to consider Porter Airline. That route stopped like 7-8 times. (Also Concord / Montpelier, and Manchester Airport).

    County Re-alignment

They can keep the status quo but it takes more tax revenue to pay for supporting (perhaps) twice the necc. unionized-administrative government positions. That's less money on transport and other things folks seek. Mass. can keep whatsoever system it wants but it'll just have to work with the...

    County Re-alignment

If the statehouse can nix rent control in Cambridge on its own accord. It can enact anything else to bring about that change.

    County Re-alignment

The new Mayor (elect) of Cambridge, Leland Chung and City of Boston Councilor, Tito Jackson held the first joint Boston-Cambridge City Council meeting at the Museum of Science (since it straddles both borders) perhaps Cambridge will move in the direction of increased and better cooperation with...

    County Re-alignment

Massachusetts is the exception not the norm. Most other places in the country have county police department as opposed to 300 + smaller separate ones as Mass. has. The Commonwealth of Virginia is notorious for its building / construction planning at the county level as opposed to the municipal...

    County Re-alignment

Or perhaps like the Regional Transit Authorities or the Cambridge Health Alliance? -- http://www.challiance.org/AboutCHA/AboutCHAhome.aspx‎ CHA formed in 1996 when two Massachusetts hospitals - Cambridge Hospital and Somerville Hospital - joined together as an integrated system. This combined...

    County Re-alignment

Just put a cut off date. Records before Dec, 31, 1999 would be in old county seats. Charlestown & Brighton used to be in Middlesex before annexation by Boston/Suffolk. Norfolk Country is still in business and is somewhat dynamic.

    County Re-alignment

I meant in the sense the amount of paper that a Suffolk County plus "Quincy, Milton, Dedham, Needham, Wellesely, Weston, Waltham, Lexington, Woburn, Stoneham, Melrose, Saugus, Lynn, Swamscott". That would include Cambridge, Somerville, Newtown, Watertown, etc. That is going to generate a lot...

    MBTA Map Contest Finalists

Wait, no northern route that connects: Alewife-to- Tufts-to- Lowell line-to- Medford Sq-to- Wellington-to- Amtrak Downeaster-to Haverhill line-to Newburyport line-to Rockport line-to -Blue line?

    County Re-alignment

Suffolk County would be too large. Their Register of deeds would be ginormous and their superior court building I don't even want to try to fathom the work-load there. A suffolk that large would need that big 20+ story building (Middlesex County Superior) that lies derelict in East Cambridge...

Cambridge street overpass of I-90 public meeting

Soo many bridges. Why not create a channel and place the Pike below ground level so the cross roads around there can be as close to flat as possible. That's the best way to knit the neighborhood together instead of more elevated bridges. Then eventually buildings can be built over the Pike...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

With all the people that keep falling onto train tracks in recent years I think I'd like to see the MBTA implement suicide-proof doors in the stations themselves (at the edge of the platforms.) Like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGv533CKw3s

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.) Older buildings in Cambridge may be built closer to the road than new building zoning may allow. Therefore, if you have an old building and it's right up against the road, once you knock that down, the city may require you...

Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) in Dorchester?

Wont happen. Western Massachusetts residents don't want anymore tax dollars of the state sunk into Eastern Massachusetts infrastructure... If you want to be Governor, Senator or whomever you can't have an Eastern Massachusetts only model. You must spread the wealth or Western Mass. residents...
