The Bon | 1260 Boylston Street | Fenway

That and the Baseball Tavern is apparently being relocated into the new building. Why can't they do the same with Ramrod and Machine?

321 Harrison Ave | South End

Because the Silver Line was over capacity failure of planning the moment it opened.

BFIT Redevelopment | 41 Berkeley Street | South End

FWIW, the whole site is within the South End Landmark District, so whatever proposal comes forward will undergo review by the South End Landmark District Commission.

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

Ugh. What a full on Las Vegas Strip chintz of a monstrosity the Hotel Commonwealth is. At least when you're walking in front of it on that side of the square you get the benefit of not seeing it in its entirety.

    General Infrastructure

Crazy coincidence. I walked up that sidewalk on Friday and noticed those (I initially noticed the decorative (?) stonework) for the first time, despite having passed through there thousands of time in my lifetime. I was going to tweet about the same question, but forgot.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

At the same time it's an active construction site? I'd rather the viaduct.

Abandoned railroads and rights of way

I wouldn't be so quick to bet his left gonad. Per Historic Aerials, it appears that that circular parcel wasn't there until after 2016. Open Railway Map shows the branch, but it only shows the ROW until the river, but it is not unusual for old ROWs on that map to be incomplete.

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Probably security people standing there to turn people away.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Are you talking about One Bowdoin Square? Nonsense. It's always been one of my favorite, and -along with another Gund building, the Boston Ballet- is probably one of the most significant pieces of postmodern architecture in Boston. It certainly gives some of Johnson's ridiculously tacky and...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Yeah, I noticed that when riding it recently as well. Government Center Station also has them.

    The New Retail Thread

Prior to the Baseball Tavern (pre-2005 or so?), it was Quest/1270, which also made good use of the very same roof deck, but with more drag queens. Meathead bars are a dime a dozen here. We need are more places like Machine. I wonder if they were also offered a new space in the new development.

    Biking in Boston

There is a mechanism for reporting bad or unsafe driving: Registry of Motor Vehicles Complaint of Improper Operation. Citizens can refer incidents to the RMV and they'll follow up and may even schedule an administrative hearing. I don't know anyone who has done this, but it seems like a good idea...

    Provincetown Developments

Is this the site of the current police station, or the house on the corner of Brown Street?

South End Infill and Small Developments

Except for the fact that it's well within the South End Landmark District. That will be a pretty big hoop for any developer to try to jump through if they come up with any proposals to make major changes to the main building.

Agreed, I went on it the other day and was very impressed. I second your kudos.

A quick Google tells me that that the Amtrak 24 fire happened in May of 2015 in Milwaukee. I know for a fact that it was repaired and returned to service after that, because it's the same locomotive that led the train I took from Chicago to Portland, OR in March of 2017. Incidentally, last...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link) Slightly OT, but just to clarify (and focus on an irrational pet peeve of mine): Braintree, Weymouth, Amesbury, Winthrop, Amherst, North Attleborough, and Palmer, among several others, rechartered as Cities within the last two decades (at...

    Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

I was a park ranger at Walden many years ago and at the time, there was talk of moving Route 126 to east of the current parking lot and tying into Route 2 around the eastern edge of the former dump. Pavement on the current Route 126 would have been removed, and the pedestrian crossing from...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

With the exception of Los Angeles where Metro's light rail and subway lines are shown on the map interspersed with Metrolink commuter rail lines, without differentiating which lines are part of Metro and which lines are Metrolink.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Add Ireland to that. I rode Iarnrod Eireann's services a bit around Ireland last October (Intercity between Dublin and Cork, and Commuter Rail and DART in Dublin) and found that most-if not all-stations had gates or validators, and that you tap your card at the validator or gates (which are...
