Well, that's the project that, in my opinion, is really most beneficial to the city. If they do that right it could push Boston's arts and theater reputation up quite a bit internationally.

I think the new design looks good. Seriously, it's better than what's there at the moment. And when the new Mandarin Hotel is finished that whole block is going to appear very different. I think it's going to really kick start Boylston Street.

So, the center for arts and culture is still a go? I wish there was a better system or website for getting updated as to what is still going to get built and what has been canceled.

Anybody can join The YMCA. I don't think it's considered a highly religious institution. The point is that now when The Y builds a facility it's usually state of the art. It would be nice to have an Olympic sized pool and other sports facilities.

The Y is also going to include a community center for the people of The North End.

Well, those aren't the kinds of people that should be buying there. But the real task will be for the developers to create an exciting enough environment to make that sort of person want to live in that area. Boston's not really known for its loud raucous nightlife. If they do a half assed job...

I used to live in a loft over there. It's basically illegal because it's zoned as commercial space. But some landlords turn a blind eye. My bet is that people who are living in commercial buildings will be driven out by price, if not by new development.
