    Biking in Boston

Two projects: 1. Casey Arborway currently under construction(with an MBTA Station improvements Sub-Project, including upper busway canopy) extends from the Current Shea Circle on the East to the Forest Hills Entrance to the Arnold Arboretum on the West side and south to Ukraine Way. See here...

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

Jahvon09, the trolley loop at Forest Hills Station was (and still is with a slight modification during the demo of the overpass) used by the 39 bus. The trolley lop is about 100 feet from the station entrance. I think that the old green line route signage was still there until this summer...

BuilditDenser - I refer to the Casey Arborway (formerly Casey Overpass) currently under construction by the Highway Division of MassDOT (with the upper busway and station improvements by the MBTA). The post you reference is for the Arborway bike and ped improvements by DCR. Clay has both...

I think that both facilities can play nicely together - the Vasser St track for those looking a more direct route such as commuters and the GJP for neighbors wanting a park experience complete with dogs, little kids and joggers.

    Biking in Boston

The schedule got bumped last year after the snowfall; I know - the JP news still has the countdown clock listing September. I do see some progress on the ground, especially at Shea Circle (looks like it's getting close to being paved), but since they can't start construction on the above gound...

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

F-Line, Thanks, I should have known better about South St, I've seen a few other photos, but not as nice as the one you showed. Also, the new road and park arrangement at Forest Hills Station that will exist after the current construction is finished doesn't really have a place for trolleys...

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

It's really even more simple, I just haven't been there when the MOS closes. I am somewhat sympathetic however, when the Esplanade Concerts let out I see the crowd and turn my bike away and ride down Martha Road. I tend to be traveling in the opposite direction that the crowds are headed and...

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

There was talk a couple years ago about extending the E line from Heath St to Hyde Square, but it doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. I don't know how Center and South Streets were configured when the E line ran, but I don't think on-street parking was allowed. I don't think that the current...

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

It was added to the "Big Dig Mitigation" list - just like the pedestrian bridges across the NS tracks, and over the Charles River Locks, reinstating Green Line service south of Heath St and, of course, the GLX. I dunno, but like the Green Line south of Heath Street, the world hasn't fallen to...

Ouch! Well, at least I credited another Cambridge firm. p.s.: I've fixed my original comment.

    Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge

I tend to agree, I've never had a problem with the crosswalks through the area.

This just in: THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION – HIGHWAY DIVISION NOTICE OF A PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING Project File No. 606703 A Design Public Information Meeting will be held by MassDOT to discuss the proposed Leverett Circle Pedestrian Bridge over...

Dear MBTA graphics department, please don't fix what Cambridge 7 did right. Their car schemes on the other hand... (edit, had mistakenly accredited TAC for the graphic work)

    Biking in Boston

I know that some are going on Walter ST in Roslindale - Fiandaca mentioned it during the hearing. There is supposed to be a formal neighborhood meeting on the Walter and Bussey St intersection to look at a redesign (Public Works had designed changes that would have stopped bike lanes from...

    Biking in Boston

The Casey Arborway project with it's cycle tracks is scheduled to have "full and functional use" by December 2016 - some final landscaping scheduled for spring '17. 18 miles of bike lane promised by Commissioner Fiandaca last September at the City Council Hearing on Bikes, but delayed. edit -...

    Biking in Boston

Other than adding a walk phase tied into one of the nearby intersection traffic signal phases, it's unfortunately difficult to add auto detectors on a tee on a path- the detectors would have to differentiate between those waiting to cross and those just walking past. Any MIT folks want to...

    Biking in Boston

sm89, the project that was bid last summer was the Emerald Necklace Route 9 Crossing project, it came in 200k too high and was rebid, after some VE by the town this winter. The Gateway East project (MassDOT project 605510), that you link shows, has not been bid and is still scheduled to receive...

    Biking in Boston

Scipop, Two separate projects, the Gateway East Project extending from Pond Ave to the Brooklein Bank Building (aka, the new palace of pot) and the MBTA bridge that will include cycle tracks is currently on hold while Brookline figures how to cough up enough money to pay for the redesigned...

    Biking in Boston

Great find, that appears to be it! I had expected the project to extend to Parkway Rd, but it appears that the portion from River Rd to Parkway was VE'd out of the project (or maybe never in it to begin with...). Either way, this still leaves a possible connection on the Brookline side via a...
