Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop If that Special Exemption is just for height it seems strange to me. Almost sounds like it should be required to combine several parcels into just one building.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I don't think the author was arguing that we wasted our money on the big dig. He is just stating that surface parks were the wrong choice to finish this project. (Which I couldn't agree more with) It all goes back to the legislation passed that requires 75% open space. A truly arbitrary...

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop I could agree more with you Briv on how there seams to be so little opposition to this project. I went looking for a photo of the building that was demolished prior to the Apple Store construction. That building was utter crap and I...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower - Full Steam Ahead! The plans I saw back in the 90's (can't believe that was 10 years ago) had what was refered to as 'Great Space' over the South Station Terminal. It was esentially a space frame/skylight over the waiting area that would allow people to look up at the...

Hope this wasn't a real question. (I am curious to know how often google plans on updating them though)

Radian (Dainty Dot) | 120 Kingston Street | Chinatown

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown Is that a giant game of Tetris?

The Bryant - 301-319 Columbus Avenue

I couldn't agree more. The frontage on Dartmouth is fine, but it is one of the worst buildings when viewed with the skyline. And there was not NIMBY oposition because it isn't that tall, but there should have been.

    Real Estate Deals

You're right Padre. And the depending on what materials contain the asbestos it could cost double (or more) than the demolition itself.

Avalon Exeter | 77 Exeter Street | Back Bay

Re: Prudential Ctr/Exeter St Apartment Tower Only in Boston....... A 19 story building is considered to tall even when located directly in front of a 52 story building.

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

Re: New tower at Aquarium parking lot. I sure hope the floorplate isn't 40,000sf. That would make for one fat looking tower.

    Big Dig Tunnels go unused.

These HOV Lanes would get plenty of use if they connected to the HOV 'zipper lane' on the expressway. (Then you'll really start to see people benefit from car pooling)

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

I was wondering the same thing. I had always hoped the city would have stepped in here and extended the residential street grid through this industrial area.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Isn't the real problem with the greenway the location? They are trying to put a park 1 block away from the real attraction being Boston Harbor. The city has been pushing the 'Harbor Walk' for so long that much of it is actually accessible. And if I had my choice of sitting next to the water...

    Next big highway project?

Thanks pharmerdave, I always though Route 2 stopped being a highway just because Concord fought it. Never realized it was planned to be connected to 290.

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Stories like this are fuel for NIMBY's. A condo/residential will be slightly taller than the Marriott and Weston. It is in no way going to 'rival the neighborhood?s twin pillars, the Hancock Tower and the Prudential'. This is an irresponsible comparison and Scott should know his comments are...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

It's just a question. There have been over 150 meetings to work out the details of this project, so it was never been an all or nothing. But now that the project is approved revisiting the details (even thought interesting conversation) is a mute point. Realistically the project is either...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

How is that not a fair question? I'm asking Ned to pick between the approved project or not to build at all. In the real world nobody gets everything they want or ask for. People, Business's, Politicians, etc. all negotiate and make compromises in order to move forward. The answer to the...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Ned, Just one more question ...... If you had to choose between the Columbus Center as currently approved or leave the Turnpike exposed for the next 100 years, which would you choose?

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Ned, Impressive detail on your post, but have just a couple of questions. 1) What Law requires developers to improve air quality? 2) If air quality was such an issue how did the community let the project get approved w/o the new technology? It seemed like people were more concerned about...
