I agree that this probably isn't going to win any awards, but the change in panel color works in making the building appear smaller than it really is.

Hamersley's outdoor seating takes up most of that space in the summer. I hope the new design doesn't eliminate that with the outdoor theater or what ever else is being proposed.

I'm going to give my two cents .... 1) If this were limestone I think the joints would be real. 2) Such a thin and long header would require a lintel for structural support. 3) Natural stone in such large pieces would be expensive and I don't think they would spend the money on the back...

Has any noticed the tall building on the other side of Atlantic Ave in the 2nd rendering? Looks to be just under 600 ft and there are two 4 to 5 story buildings on that site now (seen in the 1st rendering). Is this a real project or just added to make Russia wharf look not quite as tall?

The only way these three would 'find there way to fan pier' is if they were looking for there cars.

I believe the south station project was resurrected in 1998. The idea had already been around since the '80's and was shelved during the economic slowdown of the early ninety's.
