    The Clarendon

I don't know when this project is going to start, but I walked by the site today and the parking lot is closed with construction fence up.

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Doesn't this picture clearly show the problem with this building? It's not the building. It's the plaza and specifically how the building and plaza transition to each other. Try to picture this building within a new urban environment. Basically get rid of all the brick and reintroduce the...

    Charles St. Jail Hotel

It's called top/down construction. It is the best way to finish a building, minimizing the damage from subsequent contractors walking through finished areas and creating punchlist items. As they work there way down the building there should be little to no traffic on the upper floors...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

I personally don't have a problem with the city/state providing funding for this project. It is a good project that will provide benefits long after this initial 'public loan'. There are a couple of reasons the developer is looking for funds. First the construction costs have gone up second...

    1330 Boylston Street | Fenway

Yes. There will be an ally behind which will provide the access for the delivery's to these buildings. By chance I was at the BRA meeting where this project got its final approval (over a year ago) and this alley was the oppositions biggest complaint. The arguments were about noise, diesel...

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

That 'new smallish crane' being erected looks like the material hoist. There will probably be a second one installed due to the way the buildings are split.

    115 Federal St. (Winthrop Square)

Does anyone else think the rendering has the building in the wrong location in the skyline. I would have expected it to be partially blocked by the pregnant building from this angle?

    115 Federal St. (Winthrop Square)

I can't help but feel I'm in some sort of Bizarro NIMBY Forum. Most of the comments are negative, but all the articles seem positive. I however think it is premature to judge this building based on just the one rendering. There was a scale model shown on the news when they were interviewing...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Re: North Point Those apartments used to be called Museum Towers. Now that they are going condo they may have changed the name for marketing purposes. (and they have been completed for over six years) Thanks for the pics.

Silver Line - Phase III / BRT in Boston

The "Dudley-Logan" is where this whole project has gone wrong. The MBTA combined two separate projects into one silverline. They are legally obligated to provide equal service to replace the old elevated orange line. I've only been in Boston 10 years, but I'm sure the orange line never went...

    Aerials

That aerial shows just how big a project that it really is when compared to the 10 buildings on the opposite side of Boylston. It never got that impression seeing the project from the ground.

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

The mandarin has an underground parking garage and the excavation is a slow process. Also slowing them down is the need to tie back the slurry walls as they excavate. The columbus center will have it's own set of issues but they have little to no excavation. The foundation system has to be...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

The Twin Tower were designed for an impact with a 747 (the largest at the time?). What was not accounted for was the intense heat from the jet fuel that compromised the steel structure. This is still and issue that engineers cannot cost effectively design for. One of the reasons you may see...

Photo of the Day, Boston Style - Part Deux

I find it hilarious the politicians from south boston fought tooth and nail against the patriots stadium; and then they completely missed this mess of a structure right in the middle of their new waterfront.

Millennium (Hayward) Place | 580 Washington Street | Downtown

It's because neighborhood groups don't want any more cars around taking up the limited number resident spaces. Also read recently that part of the negotiation with the neighborhood for Altelier in the South End restricts those residents from getting a street parking sticker.

    Big Dig Ventillation Buildings

I agree, but every time I look at the giant M's on top of the stacks it reminds me of Magatoo (spelling) from Zoolander.

    Big Dig Ventillation Buildings

I think the vent building at the airport won some design awards.

    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

Are all those air conditioners part of the historic facade?

Avalon North Station | Nashua Street Residences | West End

I don't mean to be picky, but every building has a facade. It can be brick, glass, stone, metal, etc. The facade is just the buildings exterior. Bostonskyguy, when you say you don't like facade what exactly are you referring too?

    Park Essex

I would be very surprised if this was just going to be a false front. (space is to valuable) The steel structure is interesting. Maybe it is going to support the in-between facade while they demo the back of that building in order to rebuild something that would have a more marketable layout.
