The 1daltonconstruction website was recently updated. It looks like the foundation work will be done by the end of January, at which point excavation will begin.

For what its worth, one of the entries on Dictonary.com defines a penthouse as "any specially designed apartment on an upper floor, especially the top floor, of a building." So, I guess they are playing within the rules.

Those are what Millennium refers to as the "penthouse residences." The through-floor "grand penthouse" is the floor above those with step back balcony.

I had asked this same question upthread a while back. Datadyne indicated that they were just placeholders for glass. If you look at closeups of the area, they definitely look temporary. Since there is a glass shortage right now, the panels may be on backorder? Edit - what he said.

Was by the site this morning. It appears they are starting to construct the diagonal setback on the 36th floor, southwest-facing side (Lomasney Way). We are getting close!

I remember it being there when I was working for Stantec on Portland Street. I left in 2013, but I remember it being there a couple of years before then. Used to walk through that lot on my way to Mulligan's for lunch.
