SAV and VRB seem like low-hanging fruit. I do think Breeze should increase frequency to MCO to at least 4x weekly during peak-season (January-April)
I do wonder if Avelo intends to grow at PWM. HVN seems doomed to fail, but LAL, ILM and MYR seem like they would be the best avenues for Avelo...
Columbus, Ohio (CMH) and Greenville-Spartanburg, SC (GSP) both showing as bookable destinations from PWM on the Breeze website.
Looks like both are 2x weekly Starting in May.
GSP is a Breeze-thru via PIT
Color me skeptical....But they weren't even able to find tenants for the much smaller office space closer to Market Basket....165,000 SF of office is a hard sell in 2025. Particularly in this kind of suburban location.
Unless Rock Row has some kind of handshake deal with a prospective tenant.
This project had its first Planning Board workshop tonight. It went well with most public comments speaking in support. All the old fearmongering about height and shadows and parking were hardly brought up.
Onwards to approval at a Public Hearing and construction!
Not the most exciting addition, but it looks like UA has added a 4th daily mid-afternoon flight to IAD with a CRJ-550 starting in April. This lines up with a new departure bank UA is creating as they continue to turn IAD into a fortress hub and shift north-south connections away from EWR.
June...
The carpet alone will go a long way to making gates 1-7 feel more contemporary, but I'd love to see a "touch-up modernization" of the eastern end of the terminal. in the not-too-distant future. Just some architectural accents and cosmetic renovations to help hide its age and help it blend with...
99% of Boston's landfill was done pre-EPA. Maine is known for having quite stringent environmental and shoreland zoning regulations, but so does Mass.
It's not impossible to landfill, but nowadays its a long, drawn-out process that can take a decade or more to happen. In the case of Roux...
With modern environmental regulations, landfill like that is basically impossible. It would take years and years of dealing with Maine DEP. Probably not worth the effort.
I know it's obvious that BOS is the unchallenged king, but I'm still amazed that it has twice as many enplanements as every other major airport in New England (BDL, PVD, PWM, BTV, MHT, HVN, BGR) combined!
I'm also noticing that WN is adding a -little- bit more winter capacity. Historically BWI has been 3x daily from early January to early June, but this year they seem to be adding a 4th frequency on some days of the week. It also looks like BWI goes fully to 4x daily in April rather than June as...
I think it's inevitable that DEN will go year-round eventually. It's a well performing route and UA is working hard to build DEN into its biggest domestic hub. As I've said before PWM desperately needs better "slow season" western Connections
I also think WN will make BNA year-round at some...
I'll happily take a Rosemont. Especially if it's a "flagship" location with a wider selection and a coffee bar as shown on the building permit plans. This looks like it will be larger than their locations in the West End and Munjoy Hill. It's a good location for a place that has fresh produce...
Even BTV has 2-3x daily to ORD with 737's from December to May! I wouldn't even mind regional jets to DTW / ORD but 1-2x daily just doesn't cut it for good connecting options.
I know the winter is slower...But from December to May I think PWM could support:
2 x daily to DL to DTW - 1x...
I'm hoping 2025 is the year that DEN becomes year-round. I'm currently trying to book a trip to SFO in March and it's clear that the Jetport's biggest weakness is a lack of western connections during the slower months.
Maybe @Portlander should bug Paul Bradbury about it ;)
In other not-so-good news...It looks like Frontier has substantially gutted PWM....cutting seasonal CVG, ORD, PHL and RDU.... Unless new routes are announced, they'll only operate 2x weekly to MCO for the summer.
This would make sense and is basically exactly what B6 did with PQI.
Have overnight gate constraints at BOS? send a plane to PQI and have it overnight there with an early morning departure that gets the plane back to BOS by 7:30 in time to turn around for the morning bank to JFK/DCA/PHL ect...
Avelo hasn't stated any interest in flying transatlantic and even if they wanted to they wouldn't have the birds to make it work ( with their fleet of secondhand 737-NG's)
