Re: 45 Province St appears at least 7 (including mech) if you can believe the renderings on page 1.

Not to say you're wrong or that Boston can't do better, but Paris is the metropole of a 2+ trillion dollar economy vs. Boston's $300 billion economic area. now, let me not be the last to say it's not fair to Paris to compare her to Boston, but...

also an apt description of a lot of near sighted professors in torn sweaters chortling over their shiny toys over in Kendall Sq.

MIT Expansion Plans | MIT/Kendall Square | Cambridge

being succinct can be a challenge when there is little or delayed feedback -- i can admit to having that issue. there is a way to rate a thread, though. seems useful. wish we could change our votes to reflect how the conversation is going -- is that a configuration that the admins could make?

    Kendal Square Residential

that is nice stone, agreed. question, though. can anyone say what the purpose of the lattices jutting out from the top of the building is? if they are supposed to be decorative what is it that they are a reinterpretation of? am i right in thinking that i'm seeing a lot of this kind of...

UMass Boston Developments | Columbia Point | Dorchester

that's a pretty broad statement to make. i see spin-outs, corp/academy partnerships, and IP licensing going on at a good clip. and i see many hundreds of millions of research dollars coming in from federal and private sources. we are still exporting hundreds of millions of dollars of start-up...

The Bryant - 301-319 Columbus Avenue

i'll vote for that -- 131 is Ok in my book. there are a fair number of wide-bodies that are not bad. the Park Sq. bldg. is one that is nearby; also the Newbry.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style - Part Deux

it can be expensive to publish a book. probably is for books with pictures. however, if it were a serious consideration I would suggest looking into the options before reaching any firm conclusions. I've done publishing with on-demand printers that put out quality product at unit cost+...

Photo Tour: Beverly, MA. north shore

i used to work at "the shoe" (in its modern office park form). it apparently was at one time the largest factory in the world. more recently purchased out of serious disrepair by Cummings for roughly half a million (i could be off a bit, but not an order of magnitude). Cummings later hoisted...

    1330 Boylston Street | Fenway

I wouldn't go that far. if you look just across the fens Simmons, several hospitals and biotechs; across the pike a number of BU proj.s, Kenmore has done quite a bit over the past couple years. And parcels are changing hands at elevated prices on that 1-2 block stretch. maybe it's not a gold...

    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

second that. i used to live on temple street and walk past that building to work. it always struck me as under kempt but very attractive for an upgrade. it may not be special, but it nets out as a strong asset for whatever goes around it in the future -- assuming it is kept.

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

I'd say the "kuo.chaouni with uenal karamuk" goes in the "has merit" column. Simple, but the removal of the brick wall does wonders for the civic viability of the building, imho.

are the polls open? i really don't like the look of this thing. does nothing for me at all (outside of making the area even more hyperactive (in a good way)).

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

while we're talking about this, Van, a request: please make an economics area/forum (assuming you can do that). As I've said, economics isn't politics, and it is something we get into on a very regular basis since development takes place in an economic context. people are interested in the...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Re: Economics as the dismal science You over-sell the point. Unless you happen to be a card carrying economist? depends on how it is used. i'm sure you don't think that because evaluating the economic impact of an individual living and working in boston is a hard problem that means there...
