Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

Okay article but claims that CSX owns most of the track when I don't think they own any of it. PAS and MBTA, yes?

    Crazy Highway Pitches

You would have to radically mode shift for Logan

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

So, am I the only one who sees the present craziness in DC as a possible opportunity to get the Corps decision changed on phase two through the swamp?

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

So, a city of that size would warrant at least one new station and possibly several, on both lines( and maybe to Lowell as well) I you suddenly had 100-300k people living there, Worcester service would do well, and Boston ridership would explode. Probably most service would only go to Devens...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

First off, TM are volunteers, so cut us a little slack. TM shouldn't have to do this, the T should. Second, how much of this might be due to OL and RL fleet size?

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Agreed. I was referring to the period between the sanctions and the screwups. If they had fulfilled those contracts, I was suggesting that repeat orders from Chicago, LA and Boston could have been extensive enough to warrant not giving up

New Red and Orange Line Cars

This CRRC saga is most unfortunate. Even after the restrictions, they could have made good coin meeting the transit vehicle needs of their present clients. With a plant in WMa, they could have built a thousand EMU cars

    Crazy Transit Pitches

I still argue that OL split above Sullivan and running on the CR ROW is the way to go, along with moving RR onto the old ROW through Eastie to a cross harbor tunnel is the way to go, along with GL to Sullivan from West Station. No tunnels, decent density, cheap comparatively... And I know it may...

Doesn't Rochester have significant diesel maintenance capacity?

    Crazy Transit Pitches

The line presently had a six minute frequency at best. Three minute trunk frequency would mean that Malden would get the same frequency it gets now. And, as much of the Everett ridership would be coming from Sullivan and Wellington, there should be significant overcapacity on the line as well...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

If you up the frequency to three minutes on the trunk, you could split it at Sullivan and still handle Malden and North. Don't forget that a healthy chunk of Malden comes from Everett busses, much of which would go to Sweeter is offered the chance

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

A five Kcar consist can hold 940 seated passengers.peak 15 minute service means nearly 4000 pph. That's just Framingham local service. Add 30 minute Worcester semi express full length set and you're looking at another 3600pph.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

    A. There is no reason to have TWO express tracks. The only train which should not be stopping is an hourly(max build) Springfield train. B. How many trainsets will they need for service? Bi-hourly service would require three trainsets with two in motion. So 4, with a backup, two overnights...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

So, a five car Amtrak West East consist would be able to fit in the Front Yard. Mm And I have not seen anything longer on the Southside than seven cars, which would be 690ft, and most are six or five.
