MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

There is always an excuse for the cost bloat associated with EVERY project that the T touches. Explain the nearly 10x differential between PVTAs newish bus garage and the smaller proposed Quincy yard.

I'm sorry, but in my world, spending 3x national average on tracklaying is cost blowout!

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

I'm not sure that would pass a court challenge

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

That's fine inside 128, but good luck selling the idea of limiting street parking in the suburban mini cities.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

Too bad developers would build without sufficient parking and expect the surrounding streets to absorb the cars

5xx exist because the Worcester Line doesn't provide frequency. I used to live in Newton. I would trade OSR for a train transfer in a heartbeat.

So, build a multimillion dollar BLX rather than adjust bus routes ? Makes total sense to me. And I agree that a Fanuiel infill is necessary, but a GL A line to Harvard through West Station could also do a branch to Allston Depot, and there might even be space to push it as far as BL or at least...

    Waltham Transit & Connectivity

The bus network needs to be reoriented to primarily N/S . While some 70/71/73 riders are simply going to Harvard/Central Sqs, most are going into the city. Even without NSRL(which is much more likely than BL anywhere west), Worcester Line gets you to the jobs in BB(as most are south of GL) LMA...

    MBTA Construction Projects

Almost all of the Northside system (all but about 6-7stations) could be simple 500ft single or staggered double platforms for about 5M per platform. No train on the Northside need be more than 6 cars long, and probably no more than 5 cars

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I would suggest 15 min peak frequency, 30 minutes off-peak, if dinkied

I'm suggesting that the two platforms, which are 400ft apart, be connected with a tunnel

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

So walking from the Braintree rail platform to the RL platforms is about the same distance that passengers walk from the SS platform to the RL exit, and many riders take the RL anyway. They would trade RR frequencies, which otherwise won't happen for 30 years. It also gives FR and NB a fighting...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

A dinky could go back and forth between Greenbush and Plymouth and leave the OC track for frequent service to Brockton and beyond. TM believes that with a few minor changes, 6tph would be possible with electrification. The dinky could run every 15 min. It might require minor additional passing...

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Commonwealth has blown several opportunities to push back against Army Corps. Phase II without a viaduct becomes reasonable.
