New Red and Orange Line Cars

Weren't there door problems on the very first few cars with them opening (or not closing)?

Didn't Eng commit to full 50 mph restoration by end of the year (or early next year) on the Braintree Branch? I don't see why he doesn't have the benefit of the doubt at this point on delivering on that, nor do I think it is moving the goal post - if anything a stretch goal that was unexpected.

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Yeah, that doesn't sound like Phase 3 is going to be much of a priority.

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

I think the better question, given that the bridge is very much still under construction: what evidence do you have that the final product won't have finishing panels on the sides? As for the size: yeah that's always been my main thing. It's a cool design but in perspective of the entire span...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

I'd be interested in how much the new headcount costs vs the amount of revenue actually recovered.

    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

Too bad they don't have it up for the weekend to checkout.

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

As why I was wondering if it might get folded into the double tracking work, although it doesn't seem like double tracking the Forge Park end is currently on the table. As for Franklin, it looks like their total 2024 budget was $150m, so, they could potentially find the money somewhere (or go...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

I had been meaning to post that after I started poking around last month on it. Seems like a reasonable estimate to upgrade the crossings? I wonder if Franklin will fund it - seems like short change for a big QoL improvement for the town. Would the MBTA toss in any funds as part of their...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

Interesting. I don't see station consolidation flying with Milton, and, honestly, I don't see why there would be a need for it given the line's short length and relatively short ride already, unless the MBTA is using it to nuke the stations that can never get ADA compliance.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

That isn't the reason, at all, for why the Acela II is late. It is seemingly on track now that Alstom was able to clear computer simulations on the NEC earlier this year which took an extremely long time to do.

Afaik they are already following all of the State regulations on asbestos removal.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Fisher Pricey might have been more apt - although I do remember the outrage over this and having never been to Disney, the term certainly fit what my imagination came up with 20 years ago.

    MBTA Construction Projects

Speaking of the Franklin line - I recall the town was looking into getting an exception for having trains blast their hour from Dean to Forge Park on the line - anyone know if anything came out of that? Apparently there can be a waiver for it, but is it not because of the grade crossing? Would...

That is correct. Having attempted to take the Night Owl Service (there were dozens of us!) way back when to Forest Hills on numerous occasions it was a total cluster due to the bus routes not aligning in any way to the subway route - so much so that even the drivers were getting it wrong...

Eng says MBTA is considering later night subway service Eng is just on a roll. Here's hoping it can finally be done not half assed. Would be cool to include some CR lines, too, with a last late night train.

Holocaust Museum Boston | 125 Tremont Street | Downtown

Also, aren't you legally supposed to block the side walk like that for pedestrian safety on jobs like this ?

Red light cameras can be fine, provided there is transparency. When done well, they do reduce accidents. Also, not sure if you actually live in Boston, but, I can assure you that even at the light in front of my house drivers just blast through the red light as if it were nothing. Years ago we...

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

There was some action earlier this year (or last) of the interior getting gutted and a lot of conjecture that it might not be long for this earth. Hopefully they save the building facade for whatever it's next purpose will be. Yup - I believe also where the new Eastern Standard was supposed to...

Anyone know if during these longer shutdowns if the new signaling system install work was also accelerated on either the Red or Orange?

Was there any lessons learned from the failure to pass it, and is there any time limits to trying to get it on the ballot again? It really does seem like the best way to go, although can be incredibly complex to explain. Best I can think of was an NPR piece from Ireland explaining how it worked...
