Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Yeah, before we over by Penn for a few years. RI is like a little bit of quiet suburbia in the middle of the East River/Manhattan. Was right above the MTA station - so it was a stupid short subway ride right down stairs into town on the F. If something was up on that, had the Tram which was...

Yeah. Especially if they could pull off timed and cross platform transfers for higher volume pairs like any other major transit agency in the world. Make the switch relatively painless and seamless.

As someone who took the subway daily to and from Roosevelt Island which has a similar depth... it isn't a problem. At all. Just have a bunch of redundant escalators. As for Central Station being prone to flooding: great, let's not build it at all and just have a North and South Station Under...

I figured it was to give them an out to use battery powered trains vs. real electrification w/ overhead catenary.

I'd also love some sort of a high level roadmap/direction for the T from state of good repair to actual new improvements or expansion. It can make a huge difference to have some sort of real plan to work towards.

Random question, but, anyone come across a more up to date status of the Franklin Line Double Tracking project? From what I can tell, Phase 2 is still underway. It was supposed to be done in 2020, put on pause, and funding restored beginning of 2022, with the last communication being Poftak...

Like I wrote, you would need to give this agency by right zoning on it's land to supersede local zoning, and, again, even just that is going to be pretty tough unless the State has some pretty heavy handed measures for non compliance for cities and towns. Not saying it is easy, just a proven...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

We'd need to follow JR's path in this: massive up front investment to shore up all the infrastructure and state of good repair, spin off the lines into their own quasi public/private companies and grant them essentially unlimited eminient domain rights around their stations/row, along with full...

    MBTA Construction Projects

I've worked in enough open "industrial" style offices to say that, for my tastes, it could work, but all of those ceilings were clean and nicely painted/tidied up/etc. This is just bad.

One would hope that the T would create these new level boarding platforms to the Type-10 Spec, or at least plan it to be easily expanded in the near future... right?

The Millennium Tower cost $375m to build - including going to bedrock, building up 684', plumbing, electricity, etc for all units, high-end finishes everywhere, I could go on. I get it's apples to oranges, but how in any world could an 800' elevated slab of concrete with some ramps and stair...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

If I recall that was a flyover that was cut for costs for an easier connection to the maintenance yard.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Loopholes? Just wait for some kids from MIT to bust out the war cart again. Or maybe just some high school kids will figure out some workarounds in the new system.

So is the target here that all the slow zones will be gone between Park and Ashmont in both directions? That would be a pretty welcome change.

If only we had something that could prioritize the train at lights or something crazy like that.... Also, could you imagine at rush "hour" on the 93 parking lot seeing red line trains zipping by at 55-60 mph every 3-4 minutes? Ridership would sky rocket, can't buy advertising that perfect.

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

"Shaded Grove" - I was lead to believe that any shade on Copley Square would instantly cause Trinity to burst into a fireball engulfing the Square and old wing of the library. Also, "grove", given the picture, writes its own jokes I feel.

Any chance this means Eng has just... forgotten about the BMU and we are back to actual electrification ?

Wentworth Mixed-Use Life Sciences Complex | 500 Huntington Ave | Fenway

I feel WIT has been doing a decent job on redevelopment and new buildings, but, yeah, this one is not it, and hurts the pride a bit (as it should the architectural depart!). Only way this works is if they dedicated a street level space to a Punter's revival, and/or brought back Sparr's from down...
