MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

So, although this is maybe pretty off topic at this point, I'd have to agree with others that while I used to be pretty in on the Red out to Lexington/128, I do think the other extensions like the Orange taking Needham over (w/ a GLX to Needham), BLX to Lynne and beyond, GLX out to Medford...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Yeah there is Amtrak, especially if they finally add TF Green as a stop. Mainly just think regionally TF Green is the one relief valve for Logan crowding, and I know if I could make it there in under an hour via the train with a terminal shuttle connector I'd be pretty interested in it as an...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

I'd always imagined a world where the T would run some super expresses. Something like South Station, BB, 128 to Providence and TF Green, with perhaps one or two larger intermediate stops. If running this level of express, would it be possible to make it to TF Green in an hour or less? If so it...

I generally agree with you in that the death of the T transcends party lines (and let's be honest, here in MA, party lines are pretty arbitrary at least as far as electable officials). I do think Baker is a bit special, though, as he did make a pretty big thing about being Mr. Fix The T after...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Yeah, I hope that, too, but I have yet to see any updates from the T on the shortage and where they are at with training/hiring.

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

The Boston Common was a fairly organic development that was cemented in law and further by Olmstead's vision of the Emerald Necklace. Back then, they didn't raze an entire city Square to build the Common like Government Center/City Hall plaza, which is an entirely engineered solution for a...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

That was also with the full new signal system rollout which seems to be just as stalled as the rolling stock order. But, yes, from my understanding it is still the number of dispatchers that limit headways on the Orange + Red, unless anyone has heard updates on that.

Also why wouldn't MGH be chipping in, especially for their own station access?

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I guess the other nice thing about leaving it open is it does increase the ceiling height, meaning the diesel cloud fumes will have that much higher up they can go.

I might be the only one that doesn't mind the more industrial open ceiling, but maybe I have been conditioned to find it normal now with the last decade+ trend of open ceiling offices.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

As far as I know, the issue isn't the CR row up to Salem, it's getting the blue line over into the row by point of pines (or before).

The stack bond on the brickwork offends me.

For people saying we can rebuild the entire system for this: the number is inclusive of not only the entire subway (light+heavy rail), but also the Commuter Rail, the entire bus network, and all the support/maintenance systems for them. SGR also has various degrees of priority and need: just...

I don't get this report. Much of the seemingly big-ticket items seem to have been in progress for a while now. The Orange and Red Line signal systems are supposed to be completely replaced (although this seems stalled and years behind schedule), which is $592m out of the $753m total. Aren't the...

    USPS Complex | Fort Point

MassPort already has a potential parcel queued up: https://bankerandtradesman.com/massport-buys-parcel-eyed-for-postal-facility-relocation/ Which has better access to Logan. Personally I think we should just throw something near Logan itself to really sweeten the deal in Eastie.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

An aside, but, I've always wondered how the encroachment happened? I would think the ROW is owned by the state, did a developer just go, oh well, let's build on it anyways when they designed and built those apartments? Serious question as for even basic projects on my own properties I've had to...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

I'd say in general it's just because the rest of the MBTA has gotten so much worse, that optimizing the Silver Line (including the D Street light) just kind of falls by the wayside at this point. Totally agree, though, that the Silver Line still has low hanging fruit like using Silver Line way...

Have they hired enough dispatchers, though, to be able to increase headways. Afaik that has been the real limiting factor on the Red, at least.

Hopefully they can figure out single track running so they might be able to have larger maintenance windows going forward and still maintain some level of service at night. Well, that and actually figure out how to inspect the tracks to even be able to know if they need maintenance or not.
