Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

They're saying they don't feel that way because grouping them in with people born late-80s and later is nonsensical to them. Things being said about their cultural identity, adolescent experiences, and upbringing simply aren't true and don't apply to them. Generational labels are probably at...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

It is absolutely not widely agreed upon, and frankly, the 80s born aren't millennials acceptance/understanding is only growing. If anything, Millennials start in the late 80s, or even as late as 1990, and run through around the end of the century give or take a few years. But don't take my word...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

People who are 35 (born 1982) are not Millennials. Bunching people born late 70s through mid 80s in as Millennials because they don't fit the Generation X definition is lazy. There's a small micro-generation in there that absolutely is large enough to be recognized and culturally distinct from...

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

I'm sure it looks better from 150 feet from the optimal viewing angle but I'm not sure it's the State Transportation Building Volume II. Part of the problem with that building is the totally uninspired brick work and bland windows. Yes, it is a monolithic wall, but more interesting materials and...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I like the Guggenheim. The middle thing is hideous and inhuman. The WTC Station is sort of neat, I guess, but probably a huge waste of money for something that looks like it is trying too hard to be iconic and will be covered in water stains in no time.

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

Re: Hotel Tower | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square There are huge spaces ready for development in the heart of downtown. Between the Government Services building and City Hall with its plaza there are acres and acres of prime real estate that are totally underutilized right now.

The Sudbury (Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower) | 50 Sudbury St | GCG Phase I | Gov't Center

That view might be the best of the new uber-penthouse views. Harbor and beyond, North End, DTX/Financial District. Unobstructed and unlikely to be blocked anytime soon. That is a phenomenal view.

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

It's gorgeous but it was also always blocked off. Yes, there was a street leading up the main entrance but it was narrow and lined with 10+ story buildings, and awkwardly angled relative to streets below: You can find more info about Pemberton Square, including those photos and more, here...

The Lucas | 136 Shawmut Ave | South End

It's trending toward really awful. I'm hoping that construction around it makes it fade, but it feels like it wasn't worth saving the church walls if this the result.

    Ode to Brutalism

Agreed. All irredeemably inhuman and horrible. The kind of garbage their creator gets a pat on the back about and then never has to look at again.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District Yes, a personal favorite, and echoed in The Jerk when Steve Martin does his "I don't need you or anything... but this... and this... and this..." scene. It's the same joke but it works.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District At 7:05 am. How will we live? And the article tries to make the shadow rules seem more entrenched by identifying them as "quarter-century-old laws". You only do that when you skew the message and draw attention to a period of time much longer than...

Condo + Retail Project | 124-126 Salem Street | North End

Different, and much cheaper (and worse) looking. It's like an expensive take on derelict.

The Benjamin & VIA (née One Seaport Square) | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport

Re: One Seaport Square | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport Is something going to go on top of the old chapel site? I'm assuming it comes down once the new one opens across the street?

Condo + Retail Project | 124-126 Salem Street | North End

Powerfully terrible railings that looks like concertina wire. And the white frames don't play well with the light/yellow brick either. The whole thing is embarrassing.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Hard to believe they won't find a tenant when building on top of a major transportation center. The location is phenomenal.

Condo + Retail Project | 124-126 Salem Street | North End

Early contender for "worst of the year" in the high-end area category.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower Yes, it would have been a masterpiece: Supposedly it was built to support all those additional floors and still could too. The money just dried up.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Trees and pedestrians will help. That latter will come no matter what, and it seems like there is an intention to do some streetscape work. Using more mature trees like next to the BPL on Boylston would make a big impact--both filling more of the space across the boulevard and making the area...

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

I get the impression the CLF would prefer Boston simply not exist. Or any development for that matter. They're out of control. The motivations of anyone opposing the removal of that garage in favor of major development should be suspect.
