Boutique Hotel | 1154 Broadway | Teele Square | Somerville

Kee Kar Lau (the Chinese restaurant that was in this block) burned in October, 2013. The rest of the building was torn down sometime shortly after that.

Affordable Housing | 2072 Massachusetts Avenue | Cambridge

I like the old render better, and think 8 stories fits better than 12 with the scale of Mass Ave here. 🤷‍♂️ Also, move or shrink the lobby and add a corner store. Not just retail but specifically a convenience store/bodega. Used to be a lot more of those in this area.

^oh wow, I forgot all about Skyscraper Guy, but I had hard flashback see those photos in the site header. Thanks for the reminder.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I'd say early, early 2000's at least. This thread was started two days after this forum made the move to the new platform in May, 2006, and it was a re-boot of a thread that had been going on for a looong time, though I can't speak to anything before about 2001 which is about when I started...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

This is exactly how I feel about the issue. A fair bit of the trail is in good enough shape (essentially the portion that runs adjacent to/through the wildlife refuge) and it is lovely. But the portions approaching Concord Road from Concord and the portion approaching Lowell road past Monument...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Tufts set-up the Tufts University Development Corp and partnered with Hines in the 1980s to do this project. Hell, this thread will be 19 years old next week and it's a continuation of a prior thread from the old platform. Which is to say, calling this worth the wait is high praise indeed! I'm...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

That would be fantastic! I truly appreciate your efforts. Getting two safe ped/bike crossings of Route 2 would be a gamechanger.

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Where are you hearing this? The South Acton to Concord connection would be a game changer in linking up rail trails and greatly improving pedestrian crossing of Route 2. By the way, the Reformatory branch should be included in your map.

    River Street Redesign | Cambridge

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure my family bought a futon there in 1985. That's a memory I didn't realize I'd been walking around with for the last 39 years.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I never really know and should be given no heed. My opinion of it not feeling like a connector is based entirely on Patrick's picture that makes it look, to my eye, like a food court obstacle course. I'm glad to hear that, in fact, it is serving its purpose as a cut-through. Given that, unlike...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

True, and to be fair the discussion around it being an extension of the lane was when project was substantially different. Like, in 2015. But that was my favorite part of the project, other than getting rid of that crap garage.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I'm with you on this. The "connector" was supposed to be an extension of Winthrop Lane and feel like a public space that people would pass through. This just looks like a gussied-up office building lobby/food court.

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

I really like this. The combo of the dark colossal order "structure" and divided lights, all in neat, unjumbled rows is a little bit stern, a little bit sultry. Like that German girl that introduced you to Kraftwerk and wore fishnets with her Doc Martins.

Josiah Quincy Upper School | 900 Washington Street | Chinatown

I like that thing. The brick is decent, the windows are playful without being overly gimmicky, the cross bracing is interesting, and it's cool how what I assume is the auditorium (the blue box) reveals some function in the form. A little bit New England brick warehouse, a whiff of Renzo Piano.

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Concord is undertaking a transportation planning process starting with public engagement to identify transportation-related things in town that could be improved. Part of that is having a map (linked below) where people (anyone, it seems...) can add pinned comments or like and dislike others'...

Middlesex County Courthouse Redevelopment | 40 Thorndike St | East Cambridge

    I believe he/she is saying it's now a 7-8 on a scale of 1 to 10. So, greatly improved.

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Hey friend, I think you may have read more into my assessment of the situation than I intended. I don't think I made any claims about foolishness, or anti-bike NIMBYism. I think there are perfectly reasonable cases to be made for keeping the Reformatory unpaved, so long as it is made fully...
