    50 Liberty @ Fan Pier | 50 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Wow, that's both a bit scary, and exciting to think about the future MBTA Gondolier line.

    The New Retail Thread

It should be noted that Moody's is a terrific wine store, notwithstanding the fact that they don't have luxury prices. I'd say this is a huge win for DTX, and a good sign for the future.

Charles River Skatepark | East Cambridge

^Word for word, my exact thought before I saw your comment. This place will be jammed with kids.

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

None. They will just replace the glass once a year.

Charles River Skatepark | East Cambridge

The setting of the skate park is so great--the ramps, the rail line, cement factory and river. I hope they don't try to keep the actual park graffiti free. Build it well, and then let the kids have at it.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I've been wondering for a while: how does the crane operator get in and out of the cab? Take the stairs from the bottom? Or is there a gangway on the highest strut? Seems like taking the stairs would take half the shift. And how does that spindly crane tower support the operator's enormous pair?

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

^I'd say getting in the TIP is very important. A project is very unlikely to advance unless it is in a funded TIP (unless there is a surprise source of funding like the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act or whatever the big transportation bill was called that passed during the depths of the...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

I've spent hours studying how to extend the Reformatory Branch to the Bruce Freeman as I live in the area. The path around Nashawtuc hill is already there, and well maintained on the old ROW. It's primarily on Concord conservation land. I rode it on my road bike last week. The real problems...

If they knock down East Gate, that would be a travest ... wait! Ippudo Ramen?!!! Paging J. Derenzo. J. Derenzo, please report to Kendall Square.

30 Dalton St. Residences | Back Bay

Looks like there's some space available in the Christian Science tower. It looks like there is no structure at all between the side columns, aside from floor plates.

    Goodwin Procter HQ @ Fan Pier | 90 - 110 Northern Ave - Parcel I | Seaport

Boy, the mechanicals on the ICA sure throw a big shadow in the early morning light.... at least that's what I think every time I see the Goodwin building.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

^Thanks for clearing that up. Using this thread as a timeline, it looks like they've built 34 floors of the tower above the base in approximately the last 8 months. With 16 floors to go, I wonder if this will be topped out before Halloween.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Doing a squinty count of the floors in the photos above, I count 35 floors above the pedestal, so I think that means we have 15 floors to go. The final height, minus mechanicals, should be about equivalent to taking the portion that is currently unclad (including the concrete form system) and...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

The first five floors in the pedestal are followed by floor 11 above, so I think this building will be 60 numbered floors with only 55 actual floor plates. So the question is, are they up to numbered floor 40--which would mean they have 20 more floors to go, or are they up to the 40th actual...

One Greenway (Parcel 24) | 0 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

I can see the prison aspect, but for me it doesn't come from the massing but rather the facade materials--it gives the impression of depth and impregnability. I've said this before, but I see echoes of a desert canyon wall, or maybe Shibam, in this building. I really like it.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

To get my bag, I had to have maintenance come key in some admin codes. The robot is really cool looking, but it seemed people frequently had issues with it. I think simple lockers would have been more efficient, and probably a few hundred thousand dollars cheaper.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

I stayed in the Yotel in Hell's Kitchen last week. I like the concept a lot, though the damn luggage robot wouldn't give me my bag back. It was only $180 a night, including lodging tax, which seemed like a great deal for the location. Only drawback is you would not want to share a room with...

    Twenty20 @ Northpoint | 20 Child Street | Cambridge

^Looks like someone got sick of waiting for the skate park to open and so built their own.

Avalon North Station | Nashua Street Residences | West End

I'm sure the engineering all makes sense, but the structure on this looks like the ironworkers had a bunch of leftover steel from other projects and decided to build a wicked awesome fort. Hopefully, this will not be clad in pillows.

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

IBM Security and Watson Health are not directly related. The space occupied by Security is full. Security moved into space that IBM has had going back to the Lotus acquisition. They sold the Lotus buildings and leased back a couple of floors several years ago. Watson Health will need to go...
