Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2
That night render is fantastic. Boston desperately needs something like that. We must have the darkest nighttime skyline in the world...
Totally agree. I know we're not going to get a 1000'+ here, but something in the 850-950 range that had an iconic crown and was lit up at night? I'd be so freakin thrilled with that...
Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2
If anyone from Trinity is reading this: I'm embarrassed FOR you.
Lendlease rocks my world. Boston could use something modern and bold, and this is the only one IMHO.
The rest are fine/a varying degree of "meh."
Re: South Station Tower
"The tower top will be gently lit at night..." Better than nothing I guess.
I do like this tower and think it'll be a great addition to the skyline, but it's all the more reason why I'd love to see Lendlease over at Winthrop Sq. The juxtaposition of something BOLD and...
If anyone with good photoshop skills wanted to take a stab at a new roof for 1 BP, I would love that. (Sorry, I know most people don't care and now hate me for getting off topic.)
Very true. That is an interesting angle. Speaking of 1 Boston Place - sigh - that mech square on the roof has always annoyed me. I wish they could do something to change that or cover it up, a la the BoA tower in Atlanta. Make like a steel pyramid on top. Anything would look better.
Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2
I think a green tower is bogus. Call it an "emerald hue" or whatever you want, it's still gross.
So they're never going to put a "roof" on MT? Something to cover the top? From certain angles south of the city (especially when driving northbound on the expressway) it almost looks unfinished to me.
Interesting. Curious they don't want to go a little higher - marketing the top floors as being able to see right into Fenway Park.
Some might have great views of the Back Bay skyline; others might be staring down on to the Pike :-/
I don't think our skyline is an embarrassment at all. I'd just like to see ONE tall tower (800'-900') downtown for some variety and to have one building to stand apart from the batch of 400'-600' buildings.
