South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

The impending all-glass façade will probably "flatten" the appearance of the building, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the notches in the floor plates on the the NW and SE ends of the tower; interesting dynamism being introduced.

    One Lincoln (State Street Building)

New Lettering is up. A little harder to read than the State Street lettering, but "comforting" to see the building branded once again.

    Apple Store Thread ][

Does this feel like an overreaction? Is this a play to demonstrate action to mitigate compensation to victims of the Hingham incident? First, the environment/ layout is completely different in that cars cannot really orient themselves to be perpendicular to this specific storefront and...

    Biking in Boston

I've ridden this too (picked up a nail in my tire the first time... ugh). Disappointed they didn't resurface the entire stretch before painting, but this is a HUGE improvement. Regarding Mass/Cass, they intend for ped signal usage to cross back (just as they do at Mass/Columbia.

    Biking in Boston

I'd like to think we'd strive for metrics to weigh against initial OKRs and make an assessment that way rather than agree with hyperbole served up be someone who's very anti-cyclist (or at the very least anti- biking infrastructure). From personal anecdotes, the city has come a long way in the...

    Biking in Boston

Ugh... " Given the increasing and irreversible number of cars on the road each year, along with Boston’s designation as being one of worst traffic congested cities in the country, the real challenge is to move cars and trucks as efficiently as possible through the city..." No, Barry (writer)...

Tai Tung Village Expansion | 288 Harrison Avenue | Chinatown

Agreed.... but wonder how many market rate units it would take in the same project could have supported 85? I think this parcel could have gone to 300' + would triple the height (18 floors) been sufficient? Would neighborhood opposition be too great?

Harriet Tubman House | 566 Columbus Avenue | South End

This is more a gripe against the city, than this particular developer, but I would like to see larger caliper trees accommodated; even require it.

    Boston Harbor Flood Protection Projects

It would have been nicer to be along the eastern berm for 93, sure, but I don't think this will be terrible, nor is it unprecedented on this trail. The stretch between Neponset Park and Hallet St is quite similar to this orientation flanked by the Keystone Building (image below). I think when...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Northeast crane is definitely on the way up; probably keeping just ahead of the steel frame. Notice the climber now sitting above three distinct braces.

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

It would seem odd that they would leave the crane there if this is on an indefinite pause/ on the road to cancellation, right?

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

This helps explain why the core has come to a "rest" at floor 35 in the past few weeks and also perhaps why the climber was removed from the main tower crane: either this crane is going away before moving on to the final residential phase, or they just didn't need it while the steel fills in...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

I think the idea is to have it ready for Spring 2024. My guess is that doing it all in one shot requires a 6 - 9 month construction window?

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

Noticed a modest expansion of the work zone yesterday; expanded to the south now, knocking out the small plant store. Note that the expanded area carries into the interior of the station as well.

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Yeah, I worked in this building and often wondered if it would be more activated if the building had been flipped, with the courtyard facing the sunny/ south side on St James (though that's a much quieter street).

    Biking in Boston

I had two people offer me a "close shave" in their SUV/ Jeep on East Berkeley between Shawmut and Tremont this morning alone. It is one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the city for a cyclist. And unfortunately, that block is out of scope for the BERKELEY STREET BIKE LANES project. I...
