There are many other threads where this photo could be posted, downburst. I'm a photographer myself, I have nothing against taking images and sharing them. If it's posted in here I ASSUME it's for the purpose of contributing to the conversation about the GrandMarc. Especially following a...
And your point is?
So educate me, is this building out of scale for the plaza? There's no relationship between the elements in this space? It's the same context?
Was this building's height limited by neighborhood opposition? I recall there was a group that didn't want the addition to the YMCA torn down, but I don't remember if anyone had an issue with a proposed height.
Uhm, wow.
I don't expect every building to be groundbreaking. I do think we can expect more out of architecture, especially with a building of this size and presence in this neighborhood.
Can it actually look worse than it does in the photos above? Is that possible?
I agree about the massing but said that early on in this thread (and was flamed for it).
hah, several people mentioned the massing early on in this thread and were flamed for it. We're all supposed to just be happy that anything is built anywhere, I guess. It looks completely out of scale with the two buildings in front of it

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport
I wish they would move that boat dock that extends out from the back (or is it the front) of the ICA. It's going to interfere with the effect you get, in the suspended Mediatheque/Theater, of hanging out over the water.
The front door of the carriage house is operable and gets used. Although usually I see the owner going through the garage door. Whoever lives there is in the plumbing or H/AC business, because the garage is full of junk along those lines.
I used to walk by this building every day when I lived...
Re: New Brighton Landing | New Balance Complex
I moved from the South End to Lower Allston and have never been happier. I miss the architecture of the South End but I don't miss the neighborhood culture. Allston is so much more diverse.
I live within walking distance of New Brighton Landing...
^ I liked the Os Gemeos mural, too. I always paused to look at it before entering my gym which is just a block away from it. It really livened up the square, especially in the winter months.
^ I agree, I bike through it (well, stop and walk my bike) every day on the way to my gym. It's a great little space and is often busy. The fountain is nice, to.
Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown
Hey dude, you said this:
"It seems clear that forumers like joebos and nm88 don't care that the majority of major projects slated for Boston end up failing,..."
Again, I'm not bothering. You're a joke.
Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown
^ Black and white thinking on your part. They dont want tall buildings = they agree with the NIMBYS... What a bullshit way of thinking. It's more nuanced than that. I'm not going to bother responding. You're a very simple-minded person.
Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport
The argument is not just about branding. I'm not convinced that it IS benefitting the city on a macro level. You're drinking the BRA's koolaid. The area is poaching business from Cambridge and the financial district, it has created nothing so far...
Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport
What?!
How is perception the reality if there's a public/taxpayer expectation that their money is going towards fostering innovative startup businesses? Especially since we're falling behind other cities in investment in this area. Maybe I'm wrong...
