    Silver Line to Chelsea

TM has already contacted me for a connection to my contacts at the state. We are having coffee next week to discuss this. (see below) Our favorite leader at TM wants to walk with me next month to do a video. I have to see.. honestly I'm so busy these days, SLG has kinda taken a backseat to my...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey guys, So this morning (Saturday) I had the roommate's car and did my 5am Market Basket run. And I drove the SLG route via city streets to how construction is going. Even in a little as two weeks, there's noticeable progress between 2 weeks ago and now. Chelsea Station now has sidewalks and...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yes I know it was a Phase II item moved to Phase I. But remember the original plan was to have Bellingham Sq station open in PHASE II once the commuter rail was moved. (I can also assume this was because of the ramp) And not for nothing, there's HC egress to that station without the ramp...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

One of the ideas is to have the 112 service Airport via the the bypass road in East Boston (same as the SL3) to improve headways (they always get stuck in day sq) This is also backed up by the Everett Transit Plan, which suggests the 112 cuts both spurs (Solider's Home & Admiral's Hill) and go...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

The first one, I have no idea. Maybe they think the light from the busway pole will be enough (it is on the same side). As far as the second one, it's there. Look closely. I think there's not one closer (and one cut off in the photo), because that eventually will be graded to its surroundings.

Yes I feel like most won't continue into the tunnel and get off here. The 112 (see comment below) is like 7 mins from Hawthorn @ Central to the BL (depending on how long it sits in Day Sq), so I anticipate the SL3 being about the same or less to airport

Guy Santagate? (I know where you were going... receivership, but there was one City Manager before Ash.. Guy Santagate. Who interestingly enough, was the City Manager of my hometown in New Hampshire after he left Chelsea for almost 15 years.)

Great numbers. Where are you getting these from? :-) And I think you mean the 111.. not the 120. The 111 has over 11k daily boardings or something obnoxiously high.. its either one or two highest riders in the entire system. (either being 1st or 2nd to the 66) I think the 111 will still exist...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Maybe. Maybe not. In the SLG meetings, one of the main points was that this route would not attract new riders, but take riders off existing routes. And most of the riders I see seem to be going TO work elsewhere, and coming here to live. Especially behind Market Basket. there's alot of...

Curious, which picture are you talking about as regardes to the lighting? Also, the raised portion WILL have lighting. I probably didn't get the bases in the photograph. But yes there are posts there for lighting.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey All- It's time for another update. LOTS of progress (as you will see). The stations are starting to look like (even more so than before) stations that are empty waiting for the buses to come. Lots of finishing touches on most stations.. lighting, the shelters (and heaters!), security...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I agree. I've often said there's so much waste going on with indvidual transit agencies across the state. It would be far more cost effective to fold them all into one big agency where administrative costs are shared across the agency, and work together as a statewide/regional wide transit...

I don't. Not anymore... she burned her bridges with me too many times Since I worked for the RIDE contractor, I can tell you this is a long way off. And doesn't work for people with mobility issues. Uber/Lyft would be a curb to curb service offered to people as an alternative to regular RIDE...

What could possibily go wrong? Oh wait.. someone who isn't a Boston native and no transit experience. Sounds to me like the state wants a puppet to control. No transit experience means they won't know what is right from wrong.. so anything that FCMB says will go. Say what you want about Bev...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Same. I was apart of the pilot for NextBus in with the MBTA because i am a 111/116/117 rider. I used to carry around a large stack of paper schedules and print outs for various buses I ride. The apps really make all the difference, especially if you are in an area where you aren't familiar with...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Because people actually RIDE buses in San Francisco. My favorite story was about 10 or so years ago, I was out in SF visiting a friend. And of course, I have zero issue riding public transportation. I remember I wanted to go somewhere... and I asked my friend "So I take the N Tran to Market...

You're both correct. That area around Market Basket has alot of TOD potential. Just look at what has already gone up since the mid 2000's.. 3 hotels, the FBI, Market Basket redoing their mall, and One North on the other side of Route 1. Plus, in planning, there's a large apartment complex with...
