    Silver Line to Chelsea

You're right it does. Sometimes I wish threading was different on here.. this thread has like 36 pages now. Further back I talked about this. Originally there were several routes floated around. Many of which took place up city streets. One idea actually routed the buses into the busway at...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey All- Well it is time for a update of SLG construction photos. My apologizes about the delay.. June thru mid-July is busy for me, as I run an event now on the Cape. I also decided to run for City Council here in Chelsea so I've been a VERY busy person lately! But since the last update, the...

I agree. but I can't seem to get people at the T to agree. Everett Transit plan wants to it to go to Malden. Right, because Malden Station has the space for another bus to drop off, esp the longer buses. I get what they are trying to do but sheesh... make Wellington into a major transfer point...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

No I remember why F-Line said this because this comes up alot when talking about the SLG and the bridge. I think what means is the slope required to get under the creek so the ships can pass would put the entrance almost at Curtis St in Eastie, and Cottage in Chelsea. It would bypass the entire...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So as I was looking at the first photo set to prove my post above, I did a compare on a few key spots along the project. I don't wanna do too many of these. Because at the end of the project, I want to make a 'movie' of all the stills showing the progress since I take pictures on the same spot...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

You know I wish I could figure out how to make it so I get notified when anyone comments on this thread because I can answer this! (I can answer alot of questions now, actually) Jeff, you're right. It will be flush with a hatch door. The MassDOT engineer said that it was something Eversource...

Yes. A Shared use path will run fron Chestnut street to Eastern Ave Station. The eventually goal is to connect it to the East Boston Greenway.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey All- Well it is time for a regular update of construction photos. And a regular update is my normal me-walking-and-taking-photos-via-public-ways update. Like the entire project.. it's moving along. There's curbing at Eastern Ave Station now, so it realy defines the loop and station...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

A TON of pictures. I took 668 photos initially and paired them down to 207. Typically I take 300 and pair them down to 80. It was just so hard to decide this time around what to use and what not to use :-) And I still didn't get as many shots as I wanted too. (I missed some key areas) As far...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yeah I had to be told by someone else about this :-) (too busy at work to pay attention to social media) Only took them 2 years to notice (although their twitter handle does retweet every single time). I think it's because I had to pull strings with them and MassDOT to get the tour, so this...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey All- Here's the big exciting update you've all been waiting for!! I was finally able to get at tour with a MassDOT engineer to get busway-level shots and to ask some questions about the project. It was very exciting to finally able to get some answers, and learn some new things about the...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So I'll start with you. This is why we can't have nice things. Because there's always someone in the background going "well this should be done this way" or "this needs more attention" or whatever. Can't we just have something nice, that is being built to spec with things we actually want (like...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Considering signal crossings at Everett Ave, Spruce Street, and Arlington Street, were not included in Phase I initially, but apart of Phase II. This was one of the things that was moved. Was it worth it? As a daily 111 rider I can say that... absolutely, it was worth it, as the signals will...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

There's a bit more to that that just throwing down some pavement. There was some drainage/wetlands issues that had to be dealt with. Lots of grading and landscaping, building of canopies for the stations, electrical work, the shared use path and retaining walls. Plus the Washington Ave Bridge...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So some exciting news!!! I was finally able to secure a meetup and walk thru with the engineer for this project, which happened yesterday! It was a long time coming, as I had pull a few favors to get this, but I was able get one! I also was assured I would be able to do this again, and all I...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yup. I noticed that too. The plot is being cleaned up too. Probably getting ready for pavement soon. The only station that does not have concrete canopies yet is Bellingham Square station.... so no glass. But the forms are up for one canopy, soon for the other one.

Yeah I'm curious to know this also. Here's the current pay scale of the SL series of buses. I'm not sure how they can do that. They *may* be able to adjust the system to allow transfers from SLG to the Blue Line. If not, it probably will happen with AFC 2.0.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

It's too narrow for 2 full sized lanes. So the traffic light will tell when its clear to enter under the bridge. The bridge was built in 1988 so it's 'fairly new' and isn't slated to get redone for a long time, so they had this workaround.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Hey All- Well it's been some time since the last update and considering the next week or so weather-wise has it looking dull and grey. I decided to seize the moment and take some updated shots. Like before, things are 'moving along'.. little things here and there are done. Traffic lights now...

It's on board fare collection. Machines will be at stations to sell tickets, but its not pre-payment. And no, controlled access to stations. (more due to cost & location. A few stations are a VERY tight fit) I was asking gold, not platinum. All door exit, yes. All-door boarding should come...
