    Biking in Boston

The challenge is high performance e-bikes definitely blur the lines between e-bikes and mopeds. When you have top speeds in the 30-40 mph range, you should have crossed classifications (but often don't).

Also, don't forget that this administration if fulling willing to use unrelated regulatory pressure points to achieve objectives (think like a mafia boss). If the administration want unfettered access to T stations to make ICE snatch and grabs, they might sic the DOT safety people on the T and...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

I suspe I suspect the Convention Center present challenges in providing a secure boarding location -- you need the bus isolated so only cleared passengers can board. The area around the Convention center is quite busy with people.

    Lynn infill and small developments

Yes, and for the station just span the entire road to give access to both sides. You might even decide to stay over the Lynnway all the way up to Market Street -- and add a second station near the Ferry terminal at Blossom Street.

    Lynn infill and small developments

That masterplan screams for a BLX crossing near the General Edwards -- allocating ROW near the Lynnway, then cutting over to the Eastern Route CR alignment where the Lynnway gets close to the CR around Commercial Street.

But the point is the traffic doesn't really back up on the Lynnway. It is somewhat metered by all the traffic lights, but buses do not wait a long time to reenter traffic (partially because they never really leave traffic, they effectively block the 3rd travel lane at the stops, the stops do...

I really doubt you can get 5-8 minutes of improvement with the stop frequency on the Lynnway.

Non MBTA buses, School buses, and electrification

I think you are right -- they are bookable on the Amtrak site or app, but only if you are going further than PVD or WOR by train.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I do find it strange that the top goal is: Faster travel times on public transport between Lynn and Wonderland The Lynnway (3 travel lanes) is not the bottleneck to that travel time. North Shore Road (2 travel lanes) in Revere is the bottleneck. A center running bus lane on the Lynnway would...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

I know why it happened. That does not make it a good thing that it happened. And we did not get BRT. We got half-assed BRT.

Non MBTA buses, School buses, and electrification

Amtrak has connector bus service from WOR to PVD 3-4 times per day. Takes 55 minutes.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

For a 21st Century new urban neighborhood, the single biggest fail has to be the transit access choice of faux-BRT.

    Tobin Bridge Relocation/Replacement

Was the Bill Russell Bridge designed for live and static LRV loads, particularly multiple Type 10 cars? LRV bridge loading is a separate and different calculation than for trucks. It is not a given that a bridge designed for highway vehicles is suitable for LRV loads.

Lyra (née The Huntington) | 252/258/264 Huntington Avenue | Fenway

I think it is really interesting how prominent this is from so many angles, and yet, when you see it in the context of the high spine, it is a relatively minor addition. It is just very well situated for interesting vantages, particularly the view down several streets.

Everett Docklands Innovation District | 52 Beacham Street | Everett

Cannot fund transit; must feed the oligarchs more billions. Nothing conspiratorial about it -- it is out in the daylight. (And that wasn't the priority back in the '60s)

Open Space | Turnpike Parcel 21 | Chinatown

The Asian-American community thinks DC's Chinatown is now nonexistent. Gentrified and developed into oblivion.

You missed one key aspect of this, FUND, PLAN and BUILD. Sad part about reading the document is how many of the projects have no funding at all identified.

    Everett Infill and Small Developments

Yes, more expensive than overhead wires -- but generally pay for themselves in maintenance costs over their lifetime. They also tend to increase property values (there is a reason why developers renderings never show the overhead lines.) And the time to do it is BEFORE redeveloping a major area.

    Everett Infill and Small Developments

Every time is see a photo of the Everett developments I cannot help thinking: "This area would be so much nicer if they had spent the effort to bury the utilities. What a missed opportunity."

Report: Celtics to look into building new arena

I would point out there is no height restraint at the Garden site. A new arena could be built OVER (or partially over) the current Garden. Maybe call it the Hanging Garden of Boston. All you need is a lot more vertical circulation.
