Great Scott Redevelopment | 1 Harvard Ave | Allston

This one crosses the line from typical 5 over 1 to shitty modern art museum in terms of vibes and I quite like it. I like that they went with grey rather than red.

Police Details, Cameras, & Enforcement Methods

Wait but don't most speed cameras only kick in like 10 mph above the limit? Thus upholding this sacred social contract?

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

Triple deckers are great, but some neighborhoods are already filled with them and are ready for the next step. No argument against other cities building them though, triplexes are great.

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

I sympathize with the idea that the government passing and enforcing a law must feel a little unusual (or I guess “psychotic”) to those people who have engineered ways to make sure the government can do neither of those things in most cases, to those people’s financial benefit.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

I still feel like it's weird that there's zero urgency around this issue. There's a lot of technocratic designed-to-fail solutions that get passed with nothing happening afterwards. I'm starting to think only like 10% of people actually care.

Also, I mean fares should probably increase, right? There's been inflation.

I don't mind it. He should play nice with whoever is in office. Zero use in saying what he thinks

    General Boston Discussion

Tongue in cheek, but I will argue the point anyway. I consider the building and others like it to be fruit of the poisoned tree. Anything we made via urban renewal should be continuously reevaluated in case we decide it's time to 'undo' those mistakes. It could be a great monument to...

    Kendall/MIT Infill and Small Developments

Agreed, looks exactly like a ventilation building. And they used to build nice ventilation buildings!

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

My massport shuttle experience is, getting on one that doesn't go where the signs indicated it would go, driver getting mad at me for thinking that. Also randomly laying over in the rental car lot mid-journey, because let's add 20 min to your journey for no reason.

Anyone know what the holdup is for the green line entrance?

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Not a criticism of this plan moreso a lament that a lot of these proposed stations are in an area that has yet to see development. Though that's part of why an urban ring is important, to get people out of inner belt and brickbottom and into kendall/elsewhere. There's a bit of a weird zone (not...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Even some trashy signage/ads would go a long way there. Such a weird angle.

Is there a time savings estimate for 50mph? I recall someone saying its not that much? I know segments of the long branches benefit from it, obviously.

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

I agree that the lesson might be that you don't want 1 developer to assemble the largest parcel possible and do it all at once. A few people have been saying lately we're letting the parcels get too big. I tend to agree.

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

So the entire 'tower' portion of the building is also controlled access. Basically each floor has a department that has moved into it (or multiple floors) and there are signs everywhere that say "Math Department Only", etc. People will actually stop you in the hallway and ask you if you're a...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Overheard a MBTA bus driver speaking to a passenger this past week: He says he works 13 hours a day, and fighting with the RL shuttle buses for space on Mass Ave means he gets home 30 mins later than usual every day (can explain more about the issues in Harvard Sq right now if needed). He said...
