So like... demolish the entire addition that wraps the center structure and probably accounts for the majority of the building's SF? The original was pretty, I just don't see how they would ever go about "restoring" something so heavily added onto. It's pretty nice as is imo

I find it sort of funny that they oriented the Lincoln memorial the wrong way in this mock-up, as if it has some perfect axial alignment with this useless new arch (probably just a staffer carelessly putting the model on the paper map). Some joke about the willful ignorance/incompetence of this...

So glad this is finally done/wrapping up. Curious to see how the new fare gates impact that arched concourse space. This project had a really complex challenge of stitching between the existing head house, tracks, and bus terminal and it did...okay. I don't particularly like how the 2nd floor...

Really great presentation by Speck. It's sad to see scheme 1 with just a revamped parking lot get as much support as it did. A 90 minute, dead simple explanation of how good urbanism works and how it can happen on the site - the audience still gave a parking lot 2-3 stars. Meanwhile option 5...

Weird to split it up into two distinct material halves. Just make it one. I know people hate "super blocks" but this isn't that large to begin with. The massing is self-similar anyways.
