Know I’m very late with this, but “Medford Square” is really just a stand-in for “Downtown Medford”. Much like “Harvard Square” or “Rozzie Square” aren’t necessarily limited to a single intersection, the same is true here.

As someone whose high school football team played in the old White Stadium (I was in the band), I’m pretty happy with the touch even if it’s a small one.

Just speculating here, but MA may also be more paranoid about fire safety than in other parts of the world given how so many of our houses are made of wood, the history of major, deadly fires, and the amount of vegetation in and around our communities.
