The PDF includes a low-res plan for the project. Looks like the residential building will front right on Main Street with the parking around back, which is promising. It also looks like the development will be set back from Elm Street a ways, which is also good since that's a sleepy little...

Got lucky! I never see these things until it's too late (or I just have no clue).

It is uncanny how two of Boston's main thoroughfares make a beeline for this site and then veer off at the last second. Makes for some great sight lines. It's fortunate the building's not an absolute dog.

Around that time (1995ish) there was a rendering floating around of a much larger expansion plan for the hotel: I remember thinking this was a phase 1 / phase 2 thing, and for a while fully expected the second phase to kick off any day. Obviously never happened. If I had to guess, the...

And now for the really wacky stuff. I have no idea if any of these were ever serious proposals.

I used to save anything and everything I saw related to Boston development proposals. Here's the full skyline view of the original design. And a couple other different versions of the rendering... And some other random artifacts, mostly of the 2nd major proposed iteration And this one...

That first pic is spectacular. A one shot master class in photography. Wow.

I think the building at distant right in this photo is the Fiske Building, not the the old post office. If we zoom in on this I think we can distinctly make out seven existing buildings in this photo, including the Bell & Hand building, Union Oyster House, and Faneuil Hall.

Still not much to see here yet, but if you squint through the green fabric that screens the site, you can see that the foundation is substantially complete. I would expect this to go vertical soon. Unfortunately there are no gaps in the perimeter to get halfway decent picture.
