Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

The property is now subdivided into numerous distinct pieces that, at least according to what they told the Planning Board, is based on the intended phasing of the project. So, they don't necessarily need to find one buyer for the whole kit & kaboodle, but I have to wonder what's tied to the...

Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

From glass-is-half-full perspective, at least the entire lot hasn't been developed as retail (eventually proposed to be anchored by Wal-Mart), with seemingly as much parking as Gillette Stadium, as the original developer proposed before Waterstone bought it from them...

Hmm, I wonder if they'd be in a position to take over the Rock Row medical campus debacle? I heard that Waterstone closed on new funding, but there were over 40 liens to clear to the tune of millions of dollars. I can't imagine Landry French would want anything to do with Waterstone at this point.

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

I don't really have a recommendation, but looking to hire an architect rather than just using whatever out-of-the-box crap the civil engineering firm slaps on the table as "design" is a good start. The latter has been employed on far too many projects in the Greater Portland area in the past 10+...

Portland Museum of Art Expansion | Portland

Speak for yourself. I'd probably love it for at least 9-10 months out of the year. The world can be a little too peoply for me sometimes.

Herald Square | 385 Congress St | Portland

Good god. Combined with the Chestnut Street Lofts and the back of the Merrill Auditorium, that's going to be an awful stretch when viewing this the I-295 side of the peninsula.

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

Ironically, the Top of the Old Port parking lot exists today, because the lot was cleared in preparation for that development.

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

That was Boulos hotel/convention center/arena proposal in the 2000's. The one I replied to was the original huge Lincoln Square project proposed in the '80's. It was scaled back multiple times due to outcry over its size, and It was ultimately doomed by '90-'91 recession.

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

I was randomly thinking about this project this morning. How do you think the general NIMBY and transplant populace would react to this being proposed today, but as residential instead of commercial?

My recollection was that the Cianchette Block was built on top of the old "bunker" single-level parking deck on that location, but after other comments here, looking at the building on Google maps and reading through the documents at the below link, I think my memory was/is a little fuzzy on...

Funny you should say that. It was a eyesore parking garage for the longest time. Eric Cianchette built that building over the parking garage back in the late 90's/early 00's, and the Historic Preservation Board had absolute fits over the design.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

There are leaves on the trees in the shots. This was filmed prior to the naming decision.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

I'll give myself a B+ on this effort

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

When I'm flying, it's almost always for work, and my company is footing the bill for parking. So, that's another big difference. I've done the bus ride to Logan thing a couple times for some West coast trips, and I did not find it enjoyable, especially coming back. I just wanted to get home. I'm...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

I'd say 90+% of the flights I've taken out of PWM have been in that early morning push. This is just me, but even if it was available, I'm not grabbing a METRO bus from Westbrook at 3-4am to catch a 5-6am flight. Currently, the earliest buses from Westbrook are around 6am and necessitates at...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

I drove by the other day, and there was a large excavator parked here, closer to the Congress Street entrance. Perhaps it was used for a soil test on that part of the property?

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

Based on this conceptual rendering from that plan I linked above, it appears the south branch of Long Creek (at least the original course) runs under where I propose putting the stadium, so that might kill that idea. There's still a sea of open surface parking lots to choose from, though.

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

There have been some high level conceptual plans floated to transform the mall, but nothing concrete. Just ideas at this point. https://www.gpcog.org/DocumentCenter/View/1182/Maine-Mall-TOD-Final-Plan-PDF
